.XEX files are "executables" -- something you run from within DOS. The only way I know how to start an XEX is to boot something like SpartaDOS X, mount your disk, change to the mounted disk (if necessary), then type "X <FILENAME.XEX>" to run.

Re: Apple II Core
re: RESET - I looked through the core docs and didn't actually see how it's implemented on MiSTer, but it uses a dedicated (physical) button on the MiST. Perhaps try hitting the User button?
This is correct. The USER button mimics the RESET button on the A2.

Re: Apple II Core
I think the fact that nobody is working on the Apple II or IIgs cores at the moment is largely a result of the MiSTer's European origins. The Apple line never really had much penetration at all in Europe (especially Eastern Europe) so it stands to reason that the active developers would be more interested in recreating systems that they grew up wit...

Re: Apple-1
Is there any way to modify the core so that it has a full 64K of RAM available to it, and/or add the ability to swap out ROM files that would enable the use of pre-compiled ROM banks that include other utilities, such as the Krusader ASM editing package?

Re: Remap "Restore" Key or Cartridge Button Key?
There *is* a way around it, I've found, and that's to go into the AR's monitor and just type G8000 (for Turbo Macro Pro, for example) and it goes back into the assembler. So if there's no fix, there is at least a workaround. But I have seen multiple videos of others using physical hardware (albeit with a Super Snapshot cartridge, not an AR) where t...

Remap "Restore" Key or Cartridge Button Key?
I've been getting into programming in assembly language on the C64, and I've run into one issue when doing so: if I'm using a cartridge like an Action Replay for its machine-language monitor functions, I lose access to the RESTORE key because the key and the button on the cartridge are mapped to the same physical key on the keyboard. Has anyone giv...

Re: My 3D printed MiSTer retro case is ready to be shared.
There is an option for a full size keyboard mentioned in the video: https://youtu.be/wmXbRdR733Q?t=1447 I checked out the Threeding website where he's got his models posted and the MiSTer case doesn't appear to include the spacer he mentions. It isn't shown in the pictures, nor is it mentioned in the description. Is it actually in the download and...

Re: My 3D printed MiSTer retro case is ready to be shared.
Would it be possible to have a revision that supports a full-width keyboard? I enjoy a lot of older DOS games that use the numpad and it would be amazing if the setup was modular enough to work with a full-width keyboard.

Re: CD-Rom support under DOS
I just want to say how amazing the work on this core has been. It is truly mind-boggling to look at the state of this core 3 months ago compared to now and see how far it's come. I do have one thing, though, and I'm not sure why it's behaving the way it is. I had been using 4DOS before this, and it was working fine, but when I added in the OAKCDROM...

The 100MHz setting was set to debug-mode only because at that speed things get unstable. It's available, but only for testing purposes right now.

Re: Why OpenCore Plus UART?
I'm fairly convinced that this is one of the reasons that this core has (until recently) received little attention and has been heavily downplayed for a long time. A $3k investment for a hobbyist core is a pretty substantial amount of cash to tie up in something, and until there's a way to free the core from that load, I don't see many people being...

Re: MiSTer DE10-Nano Power Supply
The power supply I switched to is the Adafruit 5V 4A power supply. It's pretty much a drop-in replacement, and since it uses a standard figure-eight style plug to go to the wall outlet, it allows me to keep the transformer box out of the way much better than the wall wart that comes with the DE-10.

Does the MiSTer output these forced video modes over the VGA out only with vga_scaler set to 1?

Re: Force 31khz on ao486 core
I can get my MiSTer to output a valid 31.6KHz signal with vga_scaler and forced_scandoubler both on and the resolution hard-coded to mode 6 (640x480@60Hz). I'm using an IBM 8513 12" PS/2 color monitor to display my signal. If I turn vga_scaler off, it will output clean signals on most cores, but the Altair8800, AO486, EDSAC, and MacPlus cores ...

I checked out the link for that aluminum case -- do they do the hole cutting on it, or did you do it?
The listing makes it seem like they do custom cutouts, and it isn't clear if the case is sold with no holes cut.
