Re: Console cores black screen
FWIW I recently had a 32MB SDRAM die on me the same way. It worked fine one day and a bunch of console cores started failing the next. Fortunately for me it was soon enough after purchase that the seller refunded me (said he'd seen the same issue on another one in the batch) and I picked up a 128MB from him. Replacing the ram solved the problem fo...

Re: Console cores black screen
Just had a quick read of this thread initial post says you have been using vga for the mister and later you mention you have had the ram for years So would i be right in thinking it works fine using vga but not when using hdmi ... If this is correct then making a new ram board will no doubt give the same result it seems you need to find out why it...

Re: Console cores black screen
Looking at your memory test results your SDRAM has an issue, the single number 1 on the second line denotes you have a 32MB module (1 = 32MB, 2 = 64MB, 3 = 128MB). The 070 on the top line denotes the current speed in Mhz the memory is being tested at. It will have started the test at 160Mhz and then when it detects an error is down clocks by 10Mhz...

Re: Console cores black screen
Do you have the SDRAM card installed? Most console cores require it. If you do have it, I'd recommend using the memtest utility to check for errors. Yes I have a 32MB SDRAM module installed. Since I've made this thread, I have actually been testing the SDRAM as it goes... I don't quite get the Memtest, aren't the red numbers meant to display how m...

Console cores black screen
Hi all, I've mostly been using the MiSTer via VGA. However, I've just plugged it into my modern display via HDMI and all console cores display a black screen. I tried another monitor, updating to latest ver, a different HDMI cable but no console cores will work. They all show a black screen but the NES core shows a grey screen and yes I've tried lo...

Re: Controller Ports for SNAC adapters
I ordered the SNES and NES ones from AliExpress - from a store on there called Kingworld. The GameBoy link port I got from AliExpress, just realised its a different seller - China Game Store Mega Drive and PCE, I had parts already from other projects - the PCE ports I searched eBay for mini din 8 PCB to find the right part (got 2 for just over £2 ...

Re: Add on board for Analog CRT centering and protection?
Nice idea but I think just getting an Extron RGB interface would do the trick. They are not expensive and they show up time to time on eBay.

Re: Original controllers - SNAC vs. USB?
the big advantage, at least for me, is that with the daemonbite adapter, it not only works with mister but also pc[and probably your phone too] as it just turns it inot an xinput device Although I won’t use it for PC, that is a good point! I think I’m going to stick with USB. I don’t think it’s worth it for me personally to use SNAC. Thanks for th...

Re: Original controllers - SNAC vs. USB?
SNAC was mostly added to allow using non-standard controllers (like a lightgun). For regular controllers USB should work fine. Thanks for the reply! So I’m right in saying that there is no benefit from using the SNAC over USB adapters I.e. Raphnet, daemonbite ones, other than non-standard controller support and not having to worry about defining j...

Original controllers - SNAC vs. USB?
Is there any benefit of using SNAC over USB adapters besides from being able to use light guns? I only want to use my original controllers (not light guns). I Don’t see any reason to use SNAC over USB Adapters aside from having the define the joypad buttons per core which I believe SNAC doesn’t require. Am I missing something or is SNAC not really ...
