Re: Dedicated Vertical Setup, Best to CW or CCW?

From horizontal position CCW is the best rotation. Although there are games that would benefit form a CW rotation, most modern (JAMMA and later) games utilize the CCW option or have a screen flip option in the dipswtiches that allow CCW to work. Also note that when I say more arcade PCBs, that may or may not correlate to MiSTer cores, because obvio...

Re: JT Friday April 14

I think he is aware, but this is not a core issue, it's a ROM issue so he won't change the core for it. I you want to play this version, just patch the ROM yourself.

I'm hoping one day the update all script gets a cool hack section like Smokemonster use to back in the day.

I think he had some illness in his family. He's made good progress, but it would be nice for a few more social updates on what he's doing!

No pressure on him though, someone else can pick up the mantle and work this core though!!!!

Re: Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest Arcade Core Released

I went in hating this game and came out the other end a fan, thank you for this lovely conversion of a core. I'm the opposite. I bought the machine from Hershey Park when they closed their arcade (it was like new since it broke and they never put it back out) and after having it for 5 years, got rid of it b/c I ended up not liking it. The first on...

All what ROM sets? update-all is pulling down "all" the ROM sets in a format that is usable my MiSTer, right?

No, just arcade ones. See my answer above.

Re: All ROM Sets Are in 7zip Format, Why?

Yeah I really just didn't understand what "All ROM sets" meant here. Hope I haven't hijacked the thread trying to clarify it. Yes someone replied to you and you didn't get it. I am asking about 8 bit and 16 bit ROMs. Think Sega SMS, Genesis, Nintendo NES, SNES, TurboGrafx16 ect. Update_all ONLY downloads arcade ROMs, not the ROMs I creat...

Re: All ROM Sets Are in 7zip Format, Why?

Yeah, these are all coming from the Reddit repository, but with people using them in basically 3 ways, MAME, Retroarch, and MiSTer, it seems odd to provide them all in 7zip, cutting out 1/3 of most users.

I was just hoping there was something that I was missing.

All ROM Sets Are in 7zip Format, Why?

I got a new SD card so decided to do a major update to my MiSTer and used Mr. Fusion to create a new image. That being said, when I went to grab the newest sets of all the 8 and 16 bit games, they were all available as no-intro sets, but they are all folders with the ROMs in the 7zip (7z) format. MiSTer cannot read them in this format, so I'm force...

Re: Off the Shelf Trackball Options

If you're going for a computer one, I would think bigger is better, like:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P1WQPX6/

or

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001MTE32Y/

But I would stick with an arcade made one.

If you guys hurry, this guy is selling two nice LS30s AND a Victory Road PCB for a total of $200.

That price is worth just the PCB or sticks IMO!

Re: SNK Ikari Warriors Arcade Core

Very cool! I'm not able to build one of these, does anyone want to build one for me so I can test my controller with it? Im willing to pay of course or to knock some money off the eventual controller purchase (and move you to the front of the line) if you prefer.

Let me know!

Re: SNK Ikari Warriors Arcade Core

I've had a few people ask me about these. So bottom line, I'm in no rush to make these, as parts are super hard to get right now. I'll be doing the prototype soon and I'll get some pics, but the final versions will be specifically ordered metal joystick boxes that cost a ton, so the final stick price will be above $500 USD, if not a LOT above $500 ...

Sorry for pissing on your party guys, but can you inform me where one can source an OG LS-30!? There's this recent HORI concept incorporating a rotary stick, but a surviving LS-30 one can get hold of is akin to buying the Mona Lisa ;) If you want an original, I’ve got 6 that I’m working to put in a metal case and creat a joystick that works for bo...

Re: SNK Ikari Warriors Arcade Core

My idea is to use one DB15 connector for both normal inputs and rotary data, as some games are two player, I want limit the number of DB15 ports to 2. I don't known nothing about using ultimarc interfaces. Everything you do is great, bc you’re doing it! But, if possible, can you set it up in MiSTer to take a 1-1 input for the rotary on a DB15 as a...

Re: SNK Ikari Warriors Arcade Core

I know how the LS-30 rotary joystick works but the question is to build a proper hardware interface without adding a lot of lag with a software debouncer like what I've seen done with Arduino. It would be necessary to add resistors, capacitors and Schmitt Trigger inverters to the design for lag-free noise filtering. Or assume a lag of 10-15ms and ...

That may be an option for many, but I want to use the actual LS-30s (or HAPP versions) so the 13 pins are necessary.

Thanks again for such an awesome core and awesome game being added! I do have a question though, I use the Update All script and while the CAVE core folder has most of the games, DDP seems to be not in that folder or the Core folder or the manufacturer folder. It's just listed in the main group. It's not even in the A-B alphabetic folder. Any idea ...

Re: SNK Ikari Warriors Arcade Core

I have the original rotary sticks for this one. The wiring is incredibly complex, but would be so nice to be able to use them :) Me too and I'm excited for possible SNAC support for them. They are actually normal 8 way joysticks and a ribbon cable that feeds the 12 position rotary mech. It would be relatively simple to add support for it, but I'm ...
