Re: DualRam and analog output

Limited GPIO pins on the DE10-Nano. If you are using the second GPIO headers for SDRAM you can't use the analog IO board. It's an addon board for analog IO boards to output 24-bit video via the VGA port using a DAC. 24-bit DAC is for analog video output only. The digital IO boards do not have analog video out. HDMI isn't affected. You can still us...

Re: Request Aka to Blue (shmup)

I think from 2012, CAVE moved on from the 68000 and CV1000 based hardware and everything since was released on generic x86/64 boards. This obviously wouldn't be feasible on MiSTer and CV1000 has already been ruled out due to the SH-3 and custom GPU. CV1000 games: Mushihimesama Puzzle! Re: Taki's Handheld MiSTer Device

We are spoilt for choice for cheap Chinese handhelds right now, I caught this video a few days ago going over the pros and cons of Anbernic's offerings. They do seem to have a form factor for everyone. Personally I love my Miyoo Mini Plus with Onion OS, very pocketable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_zMdyCjKu4&t=1109s If you're looking to sp...

Re: Aliexpress MiSTer Jamma / JVS

DIP switches will not help with USB/WiFi.

I don't recognise the WiFi dongle but it looks like a generic chipset that should work. Maybe run through the steps here.

Which power supply are you using?

Re: Taki's Handheld MiSTer Device

Details are very scarce, everything released publicly is on Taki's X account.

What we know right now:

  • It is codenamed the "Super R2"

  • It will probably have a 4:3 AMOLED screen

  • No concrete release schedule

  • Two "teaser" images have been released, presumably WIP CAD files

Re: Aliexpress MiSTer Jamma / JVS

Yeah I'm also confused why you aren't using the JAMMA edge on the expander board.

If the image quality from the JAMMA edge is poor this board is entirely redundant? You may need to change your DIP switch settings for analogue audio?

Re: Play From Original Medium?

This has been discussed ad nauseam. The short answer is no; there are not enough GPIO pins to access carts and CD/floppy systems typically need very low-level access to the drives to function correctly. The are some outliers like ADC input for tape decks, work on getting C64 1541 drives working over SNAC and Amiga floppy drives but otherwise no, it...

I'm not sure what info anyone but the vendor can provide as to availability? They are sold in batches and I'm not aware of any impending batches about to be produced. I bought one of the earlier versions and use it with a modified mini-ITX case, I'm very pleased with it. However this is quite a cottage-industry; I'm not saying you've missed the boa...

I would still read up on setting up, running and updating your MiSTer. Running update_all will keep you up-to-date and can be configured (press down when prompted on running the script) to download additional cores and much, much more.

Re: FM Towns and GameCube Core Possible?

FM Towns is interesting but is pretty niche, the X68000 core still has a ways to go too. Unfortunately there are only a finite number of developers with finite resources and esoteric Japanese systems require a lot of research and hands on with the hardware. Whilst I'm sure a lot of people here would love FM Towns and Towns Marty it's a massive unde...

Not that I am aware of. As it was distributed as a conversion kit for Qix, that seems like the logical place to start.

I doubt it's open source but some of the work appears to have already been done producing these replacement boards.

However, scrolling is a lot smoother on original hardware (even though it scrolls in chunks). Seems to be MiSTer specific. I just checked this on my MV1C and can't see any difference in the scrolling, either on a CRT or through a RetroTink 5x. Have you tried an alternative vsync_adjust setting on your display? Failing that, I can't see any open is...

Re: Graphical Glitch in Captain Commando (JP)

I am not familiar with the game on PlayStation but quite often these 'glitches' in the areas of overscan are quite normal, you'll see them in HDMI output as by default the core doesn't crop the overscan area (from memory you can change the screen crop in the OSD). Looking at captures of the game on YouTube from supposed real hardware this appears t...

Re: Can not connect DualSense no matter what

I'll let the other thread you started wrap this up. Probably for the best, you already made me waste a week and $25 on a power supply that I didn't need when it should have been obvious it wasn't an issue with the power supply, since you only need that for multiple peripherals and hard drives. It's okay to not know the solution to every problem. I...

Re: Can not connect DualSense no matter what

This is the power supply I bought https://misteraddons.com/products/5v-5a-dc-power-supply So I'm a little confused. So if I use the DC power jumper ( https://misteraddons.com/products/dc-jumper ) that would fill both of the DC slots that I'm currently using for power, so there is also a USB-A slot marked "POWER ONLY", so I would just use...

Re: Can not connect DualSense no matter what

Ah ok, I see it has an inline switch (which can be a point of further resistance!). Maybe just try a straight y-splitter without an inline switch. MiSTer Addons has long since sold a solid bracket style power bridge. Still curious which power supply you have purchased. Many of the "5A" supplies I've seen have been fake, the recommended is...

Re: Can not connect DualSense no matter what

Anything inline to the supply adds resistance and can, in turn cause a voltage drop. The DE10-Nano is quite sensitive to voltages below 5v.

That said, which power supply did you buy?

Re: Benq RD280u

There is absolutely no way you can drive a 3840x2560 resolution natively (9M~ pixels) with the DE10-Nano which is why you'll get a black screen. 1440p or the iPad retina displays are pushing the upper limits already and those are pushing 3M~ pixels, you'll need to use an intermediary resolution as suggested above.

Re: Trouble getting DAC to work on Taki's MiSTer Pi

I would first start by reading the MiSTer FPGA docs , thoroughly. Pay particular attention to the Using Your CRT With MiSTer section. Connecting via composite requires a few additional steps and some adapters. Check your DIP switches are set correctly, give them a wiggle in case they are not making good contact. The audio jack should be outputting ...

Re: Can not connect DualSense no matter what

Nope, nothing to do with updates. Those power supplies are just notoriously anaemic, you'll find plenty of threads here with people with similar symptoms that were resolved by upgrading their power supplies or removing y splitters/inline power switches.

As I said; DualSense controllers can try to draw a lot of current.
