Re: TRS-80 Core Has Moved

@rhester : The hardware doesn't care how the characters are encoded. It's up to the Comm software to deal with that. LDOS/LCOMM has a translation character feature, but its usable for a few characters only. I don't think that's quite true. A setting like "TCP_TERM_TRANS = PETSKII" in MidiLink.INI is "twisting the bits" behind t...

I wonder if you could play the Namco Museum PS1 Pole Position, with the Namco Jog Con controller ?
That would be epic, as Pole Position is hard to get the controls right with emulation, as the original had a continuous steering wheel.

If the original supported it and you're using SNAC, I don't see why not.

So it's been a couple year since this thread was written to - when I leave Super Attract mode on my Mister, I see Crazy Otto's attract mode on there a time or two - did we ever determine if this is the real Crazy Otto codebase, or just a homebrew approximation? The 'real' one is lost to time, so by definition it's basically a graphics hack of Ms. ...

So its somehow gotten easier to find 50hz CRTs now in America when no-one has been making the things for decades?

I won't belabor the point, but it was never particularly difficult. Even the 1084S (not P) could autoswitch.

There is no change to how the games run (they will have the correct PAL or NTSC setting, like before), and there is also no change to the launcher, which always ran in NTSC.

My apologies - somehow after all this time, I never noticed the launcher ran in NTSC in the first place! LOL Carry on. =)

Default setup now starts in NTSC instead of the resulting PAL → NTSC → PAL switching that was the case in the past, to cut down on any delays when booting the setup. All games will of course run in their correct PAL or NTSC resolutions (depending on origin of the game developer) as before, this is just to avoid the 1-2 second sync wait that is com...

When the arm is overclocked Munt/Fluidsynth are working very very well on the Mister, especially for something that doesn't need extra hardware.

In my experience, even when overclocked, stutter and buffer overrun was pretty common. The user port add-on modules work like butter, though.

Our goal is certainly to be the best Amiga setup for real hardware and emulators too! It just started as a MiSTer-focused project originally. Credit where due, you're admirably succeeding in that goal. I had opportunity to recommend AV on the EAB forums just yesterday because it was the ideal solution for a back-in-the-day less-technical Amiga use...

No retroarch has a history of ignoring emulators developers wishes. Duckstation for example. Retroarch should never be supported. I use Ares and never see any issue, sound and picture are perfectly in sync. You do know that under the hood retroarch is just a collection of standalone emulators. While I agree with you, please don't site Duckstation ...

Re: FM Towns and GameCube Core Possible?

It will be done if and when and asking for it to happen wont make it occur any faster, People expressing interest in something (cores in this case) can absolutely be a motivation for the developer and result in resuming work, faster completion, etc. I don't really think that's the case at all. It's a developer wanting to scratch an itch, VERY few ...

Anybody else having issues with the 1942 core not scaling so both the top and bottom of the game isn't cut off. I've tried several other games in the vertical orientation and only 1942 is showing the top/bottom (scores, coins entered, etc...) is cutoff.

I don't see this problem here, no.

It only happens on one specific revision.

Re: FM Towns and GameCube Core Possible?

Unfortunately, even with the logic elements, the GameCube is probably too complex for hobbyists to implement. During the 90s, CPUs implemented two massive leaps in design: superscalar pipelines and out-of-order execution. These advances let the CPU stay a lot busier, and therefore get more work done, even at the same clock speed. The GameCube CPU ...

I have never been able to play a single game on software emulation without one of the following: Audio Glitches, V-Tearing, or Stutter. Getting rid of two always leaves one. For years I played with the stutter you get from sync issues thinking it was slowdown that was present on real hardware. It's not. It's noticeable. And it's inaccurate. On wha...

It bothers the hell out of me that they claim "100% compatibility because #FPGA!" on every single product release, then the bug and incompatibility reports roll in.

That being said, good that we're getting closer on the whole day by day to finally having good fidelity N64 systems. Miles away from UltraHLE. =)

Re: MegaCD BIOS automatically goes to CD player screen after 10 seconds

Just tried Ares.

Confusingly,

Code: Select all

SEGA MEGA DRIVE (C)SEGA 1993.JUN
CD2 BOOT ROM 06/01-1993 20:00 2.00W
14db9657bbaa6fbb9249752424dc0ce4 boot.rom

DOES autostart on Ares (with seemingly no way to disable this behavior) but not on MiSTer.

We're gonna need real hardware.
