Easy to do since both has one big drawback together!
Which is when sold new, they where pretty much unobtainium for normal people

Are all the dip switches flipped the right way?
Even if they are try flipping all of them back and forth a couple of times to get rid of some factory goo.
Probably unlikely to help, but it's atleast a small chance to be the fault, and it's fast and safe to try!

Re: MiSTer Pi

Were that the case, you wouldn't see it lagging behind, it would just drop a frame and remain in sync. I did watch the videos and i can´t agree that it was lagging behind. The reason is that one or two systems where 1-2 frames behind sometimes and sometimes NOT and it came and went during the test. AND it was not only the taki that did it the dual...

Re: NAS vs SD vs HDD Speed

https://misteraddons.com/blogs/news/mister-data-io-speed-shootout LAN (Cable) speed is by a biiiiig margin the fastest on mister vs sd/usb. I have run everything besides arcade cores and minimig from a 1TB SSD on my Unraid NAS for 2-3 years now, works perfectly fine. I did have some problem (do not remember what tough) at the start with arcade core...

I Agree with the banana doctor! ;)
The audio is the biggest reason for me, PC/Pi emulation almost never gets the audio 100% perfect.
It almost always lag behind a bit because audio buffer, or you get cracks/stutters with no or very small audio buffer, sometime you even get both.

Oh, and if someone wants to take a crack at designing a logo/wordmark for “0MHz DOS Collection” (maybe something based on the MHz LCD segment displays on old PCs?), we'd love to see it! Monochrome vector (SVG), please, so it can be used in e.g. the navigation header on 0mhz.net . Damn good work! My first thought reading the design a logo was. &quo...

Re: I want to design the perfect "catch all" controller for MiSTer and emulation

For me the 8bitdo M30 is the closest catch all controller, and a xbone controller for a catch all controller with analog sticks. The three biggest not so great things about the M30 for me is. 1, WHY,whyyyyy must the L/R buttons be the same as Z/C, and not be "allowed" to be configured as separate buttons. That is soooooo annoying having f...

After doing some tests, It seems there is no difference in dual sdram vs single sdram anymore when using compatible sdram. Maybe if you had non compatible ram, dual sdram would help.

What did you test?
Did you test the 4-5 games (if i remember correctly) that has some very slight audio trouble when running single RAM?

Re: Moving the Cores to the USB Storage in 2023

If your going for read/write speed then network (Cable) is the way to go with quite a large margin too.
Between sd vs usb, then usb is faster read but sd is faster on write but only with a small step.

It was a while ago but i´m almost sure i used FTP using winscp.
And then simply made a new txt file or something like that and then renamed the file name and extension to just sgx.

Or if that did not work i did made the sgx file the same way as the above in windows/explorer and used winscp to move it to the mister.

Re: Controller Doesn’t Work After a Cold Reboot

How much stuff do you have connected to the hub? Like keyboard/wifi/bluetooth and so on? And what powersupply do you use? It can be a power issue that the psu does not meet demands when everything starts up at the same time. The 2A psu that comes with the DE-10 is not very good and many have fixed problems using a better psu. For example meanwells ...

Re: Dual RAM switch for analog IO board?

One big problem with the DE/10 nano already is that it use a general pin socket for memory. And the problem is that any connector on the way WILL degrade the signal (and make the traces longer that also will degrade the signal only a lot less then a connector), that will lead to not being able to run the ram at high speeds. The memory chips and the...

What powersupply do you use for the mister? And how much else is plugged in to it? As in many controllers/wifi/bluetooth/RF and so on. I had a rare occurring no keyboard working a looong time ago when i first bought the mister with my model m (a 2011 unicomp usb model m). After i got my 4A meanwell powersupply the model m has never failed once since.

See Bobs interview with him about it here, it was really interesting!

The DE-10 Nano was and is mostly directed at the beginners to start doing FPGA stuff, aka draw them in so they buy more FPGA´s for their projects and then to their job projects. That is one reason that so many things is built into it like network connector/hdmi and so on. At the same time that is one reason why there has not been any larger/faster ...

Re: Is it possible to make a MiSTer frontend via a front end core?

The MiSTer menu would still technically be there because you'd launch it by hitting the MiSTer menu button, so it could work like an overlay for this theoretical MiSTer front end core like how it already works in all other cores. Possible or not i do see one problem with this. And that is depending on the GUI core "FPGA size" some cores ...

Re: Allwinner D1 Possible Future Cheaper FPGA Options

DDR3 is way faster then SDRAM yes.
BUT DDR3 also has much higher latency then SDRAM, which could be a BIG deal with systems that was built using SDRAM.

And the DE-10 nano (also known as MiSTer  ) has 1GB DDR3 that can not be used in many cores that needs the SDRam addon!

It won't make PS1 sound better as this would require the 2nd SDRAM

And it will only sound better for very few games, don´t remember exactly but there where about 5 or so games that are affected.
