Re: CRT VGA-Component Odd Ripple Effect

Great! So what is the current status? You mentioned component adapter, but maybe you meant composite? So is the composite working well now without shimmering? I am confused. Glad it is getting better. Is component the only thing that shimmers, and the MiSTer is your only component device to test it with? If so, it could be a failing part in the com...

Re: CRT VGA-Component Odd Ripple Effect

Also, it's hard to tell from the photo, but the lower left of the two big capacitors on the neck board looks like it might be bloated. That could be a bad capacitor.

Re: CRT VGA-Component Odd Ripple Effect

Just heard back about the darker image: "well that certainly shouldn't happen. Maybe they somehow screwed something else up while they were inside. It's possible they may have accidentally bumped the g2 knob on the flyback transformer while removing the back cover." I'm not exactly sure what that is, but where would I find it to fix it? ...

Re: CRT VGA-Component Odd Ripple Effect

No luck with the issue, but it did seem to make my picture way darker? Bummer, I am asking in another group about it, which is where I got the info from. I will let you know if I hear anything more about the darker image. However, at least you have ruled that out. In the meantime, if the picture looks too dark, you can put the cable back on since ...

It's the red and white cable, and I think it can only be disconnected from the circled part. There are only two wires on that connector, correct? It is hard to see in the photo.

Re: CRT VGA-Component Odd Ripple Effect

Just an update, i haven't gotten a universal remote yet, but I did get the cable you suggested and it didn't fix the issue. Only step now is trying the remote or manually pulling out that thing you mentioned. Pulling out the VM cable is quick and free, and if it was me, I would pull that cable anyway because nothing good comes from it. Just be car...

I am already dreaming about my favorite 98 era 3D and 2D Windows games. I bought a Riva TNT2 in anticipation. It is said to have perfect DOS VESA support and it goes all the way to Windows XP which this box should also run as it meets the minimum requirements. Do keep us informed please, i doubt i'll be able to get one earlier than next year i wen...

Re: VGA Switch for analogue I\O?

Hi, I have a DB15->Scart cable that works properly @15Khz. I'd want to buy a second cable and add a 1 input x 2 output DB15 switch in the chain, so I can go to 2 different CRTs @15Khz. Would any VGA switch be ok? Would any consumer VGA-VGA cable be ok to go from MiSTer to the switch (no pin modification required and such)? Thanks. These are excell...

Re: ITX Llama

Well that was fast, you can buy it now and there is a discount if you buy it before next Sunday. https://retrodreams.ca/ Nice find! But the 300 USD price tag (+deliveries/taxes) means I'm out and back to my trusty ol' Pentium mini tower. Wait, it's actually 300 just for the board and you need to stump for the extras too. Nah, not for me. But a lov...

Here's the thread for new new version:

https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=100351

Note that it has evolved from the first post and quite a read!

Thanks! It seems to be referring to the TinyLlama. I would rather have the ITX Llama for better video card compatibility.

Re: ITX Llama

I'm keeping an eye of the new one in progress, they're talking about being able to fit a Voodoo card to it. I'll have to find it on the vogons forum... That would be perfect. The only other thing missing would be a USB joystick converter like the keyboard and mouse converter. Oh, and horizontal slots and a custom case. And the ability to fit a lar...

Re: Apple II Core

Yes. I had a black and white image for all cores at first, until I updated my MiSTer.ini to a newer version. I was missing some entries, as described in this thread: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?t=7175 Mostly I had to set composite_sync=1 and vga_mode=svideo. Thanks, I meant saturation adjustments, etc. Were those in MiSTer.ini or adjustme...

Re: Apple II Core

The core works great in B&W mode with my Analogue IO + Composite adapter from UltimateMister :D This is taken from my X-Capture-1 card. I had to fiddle with the settings a bit (Hue: 0, Saturation & Sharpness:255, Brightness & Contract at 135) but it does look very nice THe capture card seems to have a strong adaptive comb filter since ...

Re: New Analog 9.2 I/O board - Composite color artifacting working?

YC output has been included in the MiSTer framework a while ago, you need to change the VGA mode in mister.ini to svideo or cvbs. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/blob/master/MiSTer.ini Apparently it is the MiSTer Addons board has a switch to toggle between 18-bit and 24-bit video, so the idea with DE-10 dip switches might indeed not wo...

Re: Apple II Core

Getting back to the colors of the Apple IIe core, I revisited this again tonight. See more here about BW mode: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?p=91062#p91062 I hooked my MiSTer back up to my Apple IIc monitor, and I ran the SNES utility program to adjust my monitor knobs the best I could. I then went back to the Apple II core, and I tried it w...

Re: New Analog 9.2 I/O board - Composite color artifacting working?

Yeah, not sure if the board is 'backwards compatible' with 18-bit color, but it seems like a relatively simple thing to try to possibly gather some more information. I am confused about composite output. When I run any other core besides Apple II, I don't see any options to enable YC mode, and everything is in color. When I run Apple II, Color mod...

Re: New Analog 9.2 I/O board - Composite color artifacting working?

Doesn't one of the DE-10 dip-switches set it to 18-bit color mode? Maybe you could try that to see if that makes any difference. If so, the YC logic might have to be updated for 24-bit output. Thanks. I can try that and see what happens. It has different DAC's on the board, so I am not sure it will make any difference, but it might. I am also not ...

New Analog 9.2 I/O board - Composite color artifacting working?

Has anyone tried the MikeS composite adapter with the new I/O board and confirmed whether it outputs exactly like the old I/O board did? I don't have the old I/O board for reference, and when I put the Apple II core in B&W mode, it is supposed to display in color on a composite monitor, but it doesn't for me. It is barely in color on my TV, and...

Re: Apple II Core

There are good reasons to have both options. The good news is we already have the Amiga option. As for getting stuff to and from the Mac on a real Mac core, it should be not much different than ao486 essentially. Mac's can have ethernet cards, CDROM drives, hard drives and floppy drives. I have a BlueSCSI and that seems like it would be similar to ...

It can, as it uses Amiga screen modes, though I'm not sure why you'd want to...Macs were 100% progressive. Cool! The reason is as previously stated - because I want to play games on my (32") TV such as Airborne, because, it's cool that this could be done! :-) For normal Mac stuff, I would much prefer to use my SVGA CRT. It is truly impressive...

Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg9epXn9CQs That is pretty slick. I was aware of that and how it natively uses the Amiga CPU, but so far I have not even ever launched the Amiga core or ever owned one, so I would have the road block of the first time user learning curve getting it all set up. Not that it would be hard, but just the ...
