Trying to Understand Aspects Circuitry of the Digital IO Board

Hi I am in the process of converting my setup to a dual ram setup, which means I would lose the second GPIO pins for the ram! I am now in the situation of having an Ironclad board which uses the second GPIO like the analog board for providing reset user and menu buttons. A functionality which I have by soldering pins in, exposed to my mini ITX case...

Re: D3fmod Ironclad availability?

Love the ironclad, but just one thing, if you want a dual ram setup you lose the hardware reset menu user button functionality (also apparently to some posters, you wont be able to reach that functionality as well via the on/off switch (not sure about ir however) Now up until now not a huge problem but given that the new Jaguar core enforces dual r...

Re: Atari Jaguar Core

Direct Video is super patchy but rom compatibility is dramatically improved. Thanks to Grey Rogue for picking up the torch on this one. Finally a reason to have dual ram, so we can play the like 3 worthwhile games on the platform! :) It is more but it very likely is 3 worthwhile games which do not exist on another platform in a better implementati...

Re: DE25-Standard Terasic Inc Press release

The arm part sounds interesting, this could move the mt32pi project into full software mt32 emulation on the mister without the need for a pi! This is a funny turn of phrase, on-device MUNT and Fluidsynth are already installed on Mister and semi-usable, just slotting in a more powerful ARM should make them more reliable. Thats exactly the point at...

Re: Bluetooth Keyboard

Never mind, I filed a bugreport on the mister side and could solve the control problem via mister remote and the rest interface. I added a set of home assistant scripts with the correct curl commands and wired them into my remote (my remote has home assist support!)
Navigation via ip control works like a charm now, I can ditch bluetooth entirely!

Ok one thing I noticed also when I try to remap in the mister menu the cursor keys to wsad, then it fails neither works!
Something fishy is going on in the keyboard menu code as it seems!

Re: Bluetooth Keyboard

Ok it really seems to be a timing issue on the ui, had the up key pressed for 10 seconds and apparently 1 up was registered by the ui, while in the command line the cursor navigation seems to work instantly. Not sure why, but this looks more like an input bug to me. Tried another bluetooth dongle btw. same result! Other keys like escape work as exp...

Re: Bluetooth Keyboard

Btw. I found a really good post on how to pair devices in which need a random key. Mister does not display one or asks for one in the ui:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MiSTerFPGA/com ... equires_a/

worked for me like a charm (my remote only connects on such random number pairings)

Bluetooth Keyboard

Hi this is quite an unusual problem. I have a multi function remote which also can act as a Bluetooth keyboard via its cursor keys. (key events arrow up etc...) Now i have managed to pair it into mister via a Bluetooth LE dongle. I now have the problem despite the remote being registered into the system as bluetooth keyboard, I cannot use the curso...

Btw. Just as reference on what is possible on modern monitors with proper post processing here is a video of Star Wars on Mame with Vector Post processing, more or less the result I have on my 4k monitor as well this is so close to the real machine it is eery:

Re: Are vector-based games looking off to anyone?

MAME's vector shaders look really good, and with some tweaks to the Post-Processing Options to create a custom ini, they look better than anything outside of a real vector display. At 4k resolution, on an OLED (for the blacks) they are super sharp. But, even on OLED displays, the vectors still miss the real glow, and brightness, of a proper vector...

Re: Would Love to See More Classic Arcade Cores

Yes you can stream it from mame, the fun stuff is that mame got the Vector rendering with a few tweaks absolutely correct. I have a setup with analog sticks and did a little bit of post processing tinkering, and I got the vector feeling correct thanks to high res monitors nowadays, which leads to one of MiSTers biggest deficits, the rendering of Ve...

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future

Well getting a more accurate Vectrex display output probably would be a high on my list. The current way the vectors are displayed simply is not accurate at all. You would need a blur filter on top of the lines with brighter connection points and some sort of pulse frequency. Besides the higher resolution everything else could be done by post proce...

Re: Vectrex Core

Yeah, my biggest wish for MiSTer vector games is improved fidelity - they just don't look great, but I realize it's a pretty niche request. Also, while we're wishing big, incorporating HDR would help improve the vector display emulation as well. Last time I played Asteroids on a real arcade machine, I was shocked at how bright your ship and "...

Re: Vectrex Core

^ I agree the video output could be improved. The video output is very definitely pixelated. Even if vector effects like persistence and bloom weren't added, increasing the resolution would greatly improve the appearance. Actually a perfect emulation of the output would be following a) increase resolution to remove the edges b) add a blur effect t...

Re: Vectrex Core

Btw. now I am getting nitpicky, the vectrex core now works fine, rotation works like a charm, thanks Sorgelig for fixing this. The thing which irks me most and which instantly shows that the screen is "emulated" is that the vectors are badly emulated. A normal phosphor based vector display has no edges and shows a mild bloom around the li...

Found this one, apparently there is an oem which manufactures that beast and various brands sell it for different prices. I ordered one in the 150 bucks price range, should come this week. And yes, I figured 16:10 is the closest you can get to 4:3 for cheap bigger displays atm, I just wished someone would do a portable oled panel in this size. Anyw...

Hi does anyone have this problem. I guess it is somewhere in the ini settings to be fixed.

Re: So Robert Peip (FPGAzumSpass) Is Working on a New Core...

Actually the N64 was pretty powerful, the problem was for cost reasons Nintendo saved on ram (a mistake they admitted later) and for paranoia they went with modules. The hardware itself was awesome and the gpu the strongest of that generation by miles it was just basically entirely castrated by the cost cutting measures and piracy paranoia. I wonde...

Btw. thank you for trying to fix the sound issue, as others have said, good enough always is relative, if there is an improvement, then there is an improvement!

Btw. given that we already have 17 posts here, it seems that I have opened a can of worms!
