Xgaming now sells an replacement PCB for X-arcade sticks that lets you switch between the traditional keyboard mode, X-input and Direct Input. If I remember correctly, it basically shows up as a Xbox360 controller. It may make it easier to use. I have not tried it with my MiSTer setup, but it worked with my raspberry pi.
