Bear in mind that a larger drive using a smaller fraction of its space will generally be faster than a smaller drive using all its space due to the way the tracks are laid out. The heads will also need to move less for random IO access too.
So yeah. Have at it, etc. It might be overkill, but there are benefits still.
As i understand it, the hosting OS is linux so it should just work.
As above, you’ll need to power it externally, but that’s probably a 3.5” drive anyway so guessing you’re already planning to use it via a 3.5” caddy with its own power supply?
An alternative if finding the mean-well PSU is a pain is to make sure to use a powered USB hub for your USB peripherals (even if you have a USB IO Board).
USB bus powered things is what will cause you to run out of power (hard drives, dongles, controllers, etc.).

AS above, just make sure you get at least 4 amps.
5V is mandatory, more amps than 4 is fine and will just give you more headroom for plugged in devices drawing power, but you want at least 4 amps.

Didn’t think the scripts installed/touched BIOS at all? I had to manually find/install PSX BIOS?
I said revolutionary for the CONSUMER MARKET. Which they were, for the price. They were not Sun or Mac price. And the QL was crippled massively with the 8 bit bus on the 68008.
I’m not sure if it does anything but on an a1200 using commodore kickstart you can hold both mouse buttons on power up to get into a hardware menu to disable cache.
No idea if that will do anything to the emulated cpu but may be worth a shot.
