Re: OPL3 Progress
Thanks @jordi, that stuff was useful. I've made a bunch of fixes to the host interface and timers. Oplclone is now passing and generating a sine wave. Day of the Tentacle works and sounds great! Doom does not--just silence. I suspect there's something going on with the OPL detection in that game. Looks like there's some code in master that fires o...

Re: OPL3 Progress
> There probably won't be any further updates for ao486. Once solgelig, the person in charge of this core, is not interested in this core, and he is not very interested in the sound of opl3 either. And I understand that this core can't implement the actual opl3 by using the MiSTer logic almost full. I've just reduced the core size of my accurate O...

I think the Top 300 collection has identified all the relevant sound config files so that would make this a lot easier for me when I embark on this mission. Assuming I can ever find an MT-32 module to play with. -Emubastard Here you go for future reference to make it easier. 79 files with references: https://github.com/search?q=repo%3Aflynnsbit%2F...

Lemmings- Doesn't load for me... "Invalid directory" "Bad command or file name" "D:\>11" How many times have you tried this? I can't reproduce it. :( Top 300 VHD saved in the second IDE 0-1 slot maybe? If so, that would break D: for your MGLs. We talked about it on the discord this morning, but Top 300 now needs a MGL...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released
The following PR I have just created may be of interest Yes, it's a useful solution, which seems easier to use than the core configuration bits. This might replace having to use SYSCTL.EXE from the Ms-Dos, to do things like setting the clock speed, and will make it easier to tweak compared to having to mount the .VHD and edit the autoexec.bat. The...

Re: ao486 with Top 300 DOS Games Pack - TOO easy to set up?
Thanks, okay so simply place the .bin in the same directory. However, where do you actually swap the boot rom in the AO486? There's no such option in the core menu settings (e.g. in the C64 core where you can select the ROM within the core menu)? Appreciate your help in making these things clear as I couldn't find any guide on this part. Does it r...

Re: ao486 with Top 300 DOS Games Pack - TOO easy to set up?
ADDOS is for the optional After Dark Screensaver option in MyMenu. You need to put that directory... I think on C:\ADDOS and then set the screensaver through mymenu. It might go on E:\ADDOS. I can't remember. the trident vga bios is there for only a few games, you swap bios1.bin in your ao486 folder with that one for those games. I tried to call th...

Re: Individually Bootable VHDs for Each Game
I tested all 3 Lemmings VHDs and they are not working correctly. Lemmings 1 has major graphical glitches and is not playable. Beside that it it missing adlib effects and music. More Lemmings and X-Mas is also missing adlib (or sound blaster?) effects and music. I think i remember that lemmings needed a lot of free mem for music. See https://www.yo...

Re: Individually Bootable VHDs for Each Game
I tried basing off eXoDOS but that became more of a hassle than it seemed worth because of subtle differences in many places so I abandoned that. Now I'm pulling every game off archive.org in the most authentic versions I can find, run the installer, write a boot menu for popular hardware choices and pack them up.. so the hard way. By far the most...

Re: Individually Bootable VHDs for Each Game
Lemmings and Oh no! More Lemmings are now added (hope to add Xmas Lemmings later today). Had to write a postprocessor feature into the build framework to permit fudging the disk check copy protection in the original Lemmings. It's big missing conceptual features like this that still keep me from open sourcing the build framework right now. The fra...

Re: Depricated.
I got same problems with some games as other folks on this thread. For example, System Shock used to work before, but after recent update it just says file doesn't exists and exits. I guess something isn't properly changed in my layout, should I redownload the pack? I found that there's a weird quirk in DOSLFN for mounted CD images, and it breaks ...

I'm wondering how to add my own dos games and have them show up on the menu. I've found messages in this thread, and seen on some youtube videos, that there is supposed to be a menu option "use the top item in the menu that says --Manually Added Games.". When I boot into A0486 and load the necessary images however, I only see this: qeme8...

Re: XT/Tandy Archives, HDD Images, Compilations, Top 300, Play It By Year, etc.
Very understandable. It may work, but it's at least another 12K of conventional memory occupied for a machine without UMB, and the long names can get mangled by utilities that don't check for the LFN API. Could there be an optional NAME.TXT file in each folder that could be loaded for a name substitution just like the README.ANS files are loaded? ...

Re: XT/Tandy Archives, HDD Images, Compilations, Top 300, Play It By Year, etc.
Thanks for the tips. Can I have an index file (or a metadata file in each folder) that maps folders to long titles, so the long title can be displayed? No, that's why we added support for LFN -- that is the database. You can use LFN on an older machine, it does work. LFNDOS or DOSLFN depending on the processor. I did test it on DOS 3.3, 4, 5, and ...

Re: XT/Tandy Archives, HDD Images, Compilations, Top 300, Play It By Year, etc.
MyMenu will work without LFN, just set LFN=F in the mymenu.ini. You can also setup the game name/folder name using the 10 digit hack, basically 8.3 and you can use _ for spaces in the name/folder. Like SPACE_ACE, WOLFENST.EIN. MyMenu will do the first character search, not full name like TDL did but it is good enough. The two slowest real machines ...

Just tried it out with Arkanoid Arcade and... IT WORKS! Had to include the code in the MiSTER Ini as mentioned in the thread and then define the buttons using the MiSTER main menu OSD before the core was able to recognise the buttons on the Egret 2 Spinner/Rollerball controller. Afterwards? Yup! It works exactly as you'd expect! A huge THANK YOU t...

Re: UX for the Poor 8088
Maybe Access would suit your needs? It's simple and fast, and if you need more than 400 game profiles, you should be able to nest the menu structure. It will require you to pick the game's executable, manually, though. Thanks mate, I had a look at it after your initial release post, but indeed the manual sorting is a big obstacle. @bbond007 / flyn...

Because if it self-corrupts, it's always going to do that, so a backup doesn't do me any good. Sounds like I should just delete the main pack and the update script option if it isn't working for anyone. No one else has chimed in saying it was working so maybe I should start over? I don't want something out there that is corrupting immediately like...

totally guessing based on the information, you need the newer ao486 bios files. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/ao486_MiSTer/tree/master/releases boot0 and boot1 from here into your ao486 folder. Also make sure you don't have an extra ao486 folder not on your hdd like on the sdcard (meaning delete any other a0486 folders leaving only the one you wa...
