Re: DE25-Standard Terasic Inc Press release

When the arm is overclocked Munt/Fluidsynth are working very very well on the Mister, especially for something that doesn't need extra hardware.

Re: Quartus synthesis hardware - 2024 edition!

they should definitely use it in benchmark, it's toasting my 5950x CPU everytime I fiddle with the ao486 core XD
When I upgraded from the 3900x to the 5950, I had a massive gain in Quartus, I don't know if it was IPC related or the core count but it was significant.

Re: MiSTer Pi

I was very excited about Taki's version, but I'm afraid it will remain in low availability for quite a while, and the price in Europe for the full kit (with taxes) and decent shipping is well above what I was hoping for (over 200 euros), so it’s no longer in the impulse-buy category, at least not for me I guess XD

I have uploaded in 1 file all the 4K fmv's stitched together but at their original framerate (even though it's in a 60fps container), it can be downloaded on archive.org, I'll do that for every project:

The new episode is out! After 2 months of hard work, it's finally ready for release! Hope you guys enjoy it! The main 10-bit high-bitrate file will be available on Archive.org soon. It's probably not the final version, but it will be for now. I'm thinking of tackling the first Tomb Raider next. ^^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3bpZOH66Mk&t=1...

Re: Remastering Classic Game Cinematics: My new Youtube fun

Holaaaa! I need help here because I'm absolutely losing my mind with the FFVIII remastering process. I started by using the PS1 FMVs because they have better color representation and because I thought the PC version .bik files looked like a macroblocking hell. But in the end, I could only match the latest PS4 version in terms of image quality, with...

Re: Remastering Classic Game Cinematics: My new Youtube fun

This is cool! Thanks for sharing! I would love to see some of the cut scenes from the Gamecube remake of Metal Gear Solid (The Twin Snakes). The cinematics are video files for MGS Twin Snakes? Because if they run in realtime, I'm pretty sure someone on youtube has done a full playthrough or a cinematics package in 4K using Dolphin and it should lo...

Re: MiSTer FPGA Might Be the Best Piece of Hardware I've Ever Owned

Am I the only one who had the MiSTer trigger a retro-collecting marathon, at least on the affordable stuff? I'm slowing down now, but a couple of years ago, I bought way too much stuff for my own sake! Especially on the PC and PS1 side of things... I also got 4 CRTs, and I'm sure I wouldn't have thought about getting them if it wasn't for the MiSTe...

Remastering Classic Game Cinematics: My new Youtube fun

Hello there, it's Neocaron, While not directly MiSTer related, I recently started a YouTube channel where I remaster old game cinematics, trailers, or whatever else I feel like remastering. In the real world, I work mostly as a video restorer and video editor. With advancements in this space, I developed my own restoration model, which has made my ...

I know european versions crash less probably because they are running at a lower max framerates causing less memory issues? But notheless it would be nice to have patches for these versions as well, thanks for all the work here. Amazing!

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation

Not to be rude, but terms like 'Impossible' and 'pipe dream' always age poorly in the context of the MisterFPGA project. So, I'd refrain from being categorical on this topic too. Even if it's not used here, it might be developed for another project. Nothing is useless in the end.

I don't regret it, let's just say it was a perk to enjoy saturn games a bit early ;p But it turns out Antonio's custom modules are great they just needed to be accounted for. I would argue they are poor and its lucky that a fix to only use 1 chip was found. When we talk about it months and months ago I argued that this would probably happened towa...

I can confirm after testing, that Antonio's special ram is working properly now on all the game tested (10 games). No audio glitches to report and no crashes. I guess the ones who waited before buying a new kit got rewarded! (I'm not one of them sadly XD)

Re: Windows XP

The Ao486 actually runs great on the Mister, I've been using W98 on the Mister for more than a couple of years, never had any major issu and you don't need an FPU emulator either (it's to allow some extra games to run). Lu made very nice tutorials for that, so it's definitely not impossible and you can get many native win98 games to run. ( you just...

Re: Neo Geo CPU Overclocking?

FPGA64 and overclocking just don't vibe together. He has some interesting knowledge on many topics, but when it comes to overclocking, it's like he's living in a comic book world there is only black or white, good or evil. XD The Neo Geo can be pushed to its limits pretty often and to a level that is not really fun for games based on timing. So the...

Latency on a local network can be very very low, so I don't thinks its a problem. I don't know what point you are trying to make, but you are so full of it. The N64 core is completely open source so why wouldn't it be finished? It's build for FPGA, it doesn't have an expiration date. The whole point of the FPGA community is that all the cores will be passed down generations and preserved forever with ease on the Mister or any ot...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

FPGA64 has been against this since its inception, and was pretty annoyed when it was merged into the kernel, but the reality of it, is that year long testing showed no risk whatoever, voltage is the same, temp are margin of error higher and if it's not stable it will just crash and you'll be back to stock. As long as you don't involve votage tweaki...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Oh yes, I wouldn't use anything over a 1000mhz if you don't have a fan. Disclamer is in the script as well if I recall. With a fan the temp increase at 1.2ghz was around 1.5 degree on my setup after 2 hour. There is no voltage increase though so it's still very safe but I wouldn't recommand it without a fan. The expected gain in DosBox at 1.2ghz is...
