Re: SNES core hangs/freezes after leaving intro running for a couple hours

I’ve left the Chrono Trigger intro run for over 6 hours now and it hasn’t crashed. After how long does it happen to you?

Re: N64 Core Development Ends

but will you notice the difference? I mean, yes. There's many games that crash (either 100% or randomly) or are unplayable, and some obviously run too fast or too slow in some cases. The difference is not hard to notice. I get what you're saying, but let's not pretend it's accurate to a point where people won't notice. They will. Especially if the...

Joystick registering as D-Pad? How to to turn off?

For some reason the left joystick on my 8bit do SN 30 is also registering as the D-Pad (along with the actual D-Pad) on the NES core, which is annoying because they’re close so I sometimes cause intended input by slightly touching the joystick.

Is there a way to turn this off? I don’t have this issue in other cores (SNES, etc.)

Okay yeah that is definitely what is happening: They're showing up as the same VID/PID.

I can switch the Saffun over to D-Input, but when I do so vibration no longer works. Any ideas why?

OK and Back Conflict When Using 2 Different Controllers

Hey everyone, I have two different types of controllers: 8bit-do SN30 wired Saffun N64 wireless controller (2.4ghz receiver) When navigating the MiSTer menus, on the 8bitdo, A is "OK", B is "Back". However when I switch over to my Saffun N64 controller, B is "OK" and A is "Back". They're reversed. I reconfigu...

Re: Odd Input Behaviour When Assigning Multiple Inputs to a Single Button

The input management in MiSTer could use a overhaul. There's also other issues: For example in a NES game if you hold Right on the D-Pad to move right, and while holding you press and release Right on the joystick, somehow your character will stop moving even though D-Pad right is still held. This makes no sense. Opening the OSD while a button is p...

Re: Broken Cheats?

That's because you suck. Just kidding but seriously cheats work for me but you need to start the actual game play on level 1 and then enable cheats. I used "Infinite Lives P1 [raw] and then you can cheat away Well I did that and it made me invincible during the level, but as Level 2 started, it kicked me to the Game Over screen. The cheat is ...

Broken Cheats?

Hey!

I tried the “Infinite Lives (Player 1) [raw]” and “Infinite Lives [genie]” cheats in Contra Hard Corps and both have the game kicking me to the Game Over screen whenever level 1 is about to start.

Is this known? Could it be due to the new MegaDrive core? I have no idea whether this was present before.

Thanks!

Re: N64 Core

240p is not limited to 30. It is 60 full progressive frames every second. 480i is 60 fields per second. Rethinking about it, you are right. It draws all the lines, whether they are black or not, 60 times per second. Games don't draw black lines. The black lines exist because in 240p the game keeps drawing over the same line every time. The black l...

Re: Well Nobody Saw This Coming! Nintendo 64 Core Announced

So does that mean that Killer Instinct Arcade also has a chance? :o Didn't the Ultra 64 arcade hardware use to be famously totally different than the home console? 100%...and thus less than zero chance for KI. It was a marketing stunt by Nintendo, and it worked (very well). Oh I know the hardware is completely different, but I meant it in a sense ...

Re: The Screen Blurs Using CPS2 After Playing NeoGeo Core

It's a known issue that things linger in memory and aren't cleared properly when switching cores, leading to corrupted graphics occasionnally. So make sure to always reboot when you switch cores.

Re: N64 Core Possibility? (Update! Robert Is Working On This Core!)

The DE-10 Nano has been around since 2017, 6 years ago. Considering how fast things typically evolve in the field of computers, I find it kind of surprising that Terasic has yet to release a more powerful iteration, and that we're not even hearing about one being in the works. I'm not familiar with how FPGA processors are made, but can someone who ...

Re: Is Support for HD Textures Packs Possible?

If I'm not mistaken this would have to be designed in a way that can interface with original hardware, like an add-on chip like the MSU-1. This is not at all what Mesen is doing. The kind of development that this would need to work on MiSTer is infinitely more complex than on a software emulator, as someone would have to design a hardware chip from...

Screen tearing/stutter after running core for a few hours with vsync_adjust=1

Hello, Not too long ago I made the switch from vsync_adjust=0 to vsync_adjust=1 and I noticed that a similar issue to one I previously reported (and was fixed) with vsync_adjust=0 (https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?t=2687) seems to still happen when using vsync_adjust=1. Basically it runs absolutely perfectly for a while, and then after a few ho...

Re: SNES Core Updated Can’t Play Any Game

The other day, had you played with other cores before running the SNES core? I experience that sometimes if I play other cores before the SNES core. It seems things in RAM don't get cleared properly when switching cores and you end up with corrupted graphics and the like. I recommend rebooting between core changes.

Re: N64 Core Possibility? (Update! Robert Is Working On This Core!)

I keep seeing people saying a new FPGA board in the next 5-10 years, yet I think a successor board is sooner than people realize. The chip shortage really did screw things up, but I think we're about 2-4 years away from an affordable and new more powerful FPGA board that can run the N64/DS. There are already boards that exist that can run the N64 ...

Re: MiSTer Often Getting a Static Shock When Touching It

I'm on my living room carpet when I'm touching it. That certainly might be the problem then.

I guess my bigger question is: Why is a shock on the case reaching the innards of the MiSTer? Shouldn't this be shielded in some form? I've gotten many static shocks from touching PC cases before but I've never seen it have an impact on what's inside.
