I am not sure what's happening, I have downloaded larger arcade files without any issue before.

Any idea?

Re: Game & Watch Core

Hi,

when I generate ROMS via the tool, I get .gnw files; yet, the core asks for.bin files. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Playstation Based Arcade Hardware

Sorry for the necrobump, but I was wondering about this topic and found this old thread.
I just wanted to add that this would be a great addition to the platform, especially since MAME emulation of these boards has very little optimization (I think it's still 99% CPU brute-forced in).

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I played 5-6 games and I am VERY impressed by it! My only (very minor) gripes are the following: CRT centering wichi is slightly off, maybe because of the Saturn rigid resolution support. lack of auto region selection, for a moment I thought I had to use 3 different bios lack of CHD support, I kinda gave it for granted for no reason. Still, congrat...

Re: FPGA Sega Dreamcast?

Dreamcast is well beyond DE10 Nano capabilities..it's a 128 BIT system more close to the 128BIT PS2 specs than 32 BIT PS1/Saturn. I'm not even 100% sure we'll get a fully functional N64 core. But I hope I'm wrong. The SH4 IIRC is 32 bit RISC. The PowerVR IC is broken down internally. I can’t remember exact tile rendering details as it’s been a lon...

Didn't the Ultra 64 arcade hardware use to be famously totally different than the home console?

Comparing to MAME, I think the difficulty switches may be reversed.

Yeah, I think the same, comparing it with Digital Eclipse's Cowabunga Collection.

Re: Games Consoles Not On MiSTer And Their Viability (A Discussion)

I want a GP32 core, so I can play emulators on it :)

The GP32 was the first console to be open to developers and to offer enough power to allow emulators on it (it could do Mega Drive and MAME up to pre-CPS1 games).

The Quake port was insanely optimised on it, tho.

Composite dithering is not the only reason to use composite. The fact that every NES developer worked with composite in mind is a major and bigger reason.

Re: PSX Core Official Release

I felt like it wasn't really until 1998 when the Voodoo2 hit the market that PCs started giving the PSX and N64 a run for their money. It felt almost like a generational leap ahead. But even then, it came at a hefty cost vs. the $149 of the N64 at that time. The 1998 PC cards that really were out of this world were Voodoo2, Matrox G200, Rage 128 a...

Composite Blend?

Since the original Nes and the much respected AV Famicom were originally composite-only, I think this should be the case for the core to offer a composite blend option like the Mega Drive core.
Many games were designed with the composite effects in mind.

Amazing work paul! Personally, I prefer to use the Game Boy core bc of savestates. Regardless, this is still really cool! Btw, is it possible to port the code of the special audio to the existing Game Boy core? I don't care as much about the borders personally, but the SGB audio is the only thing that I feel is missing from the standard Game Boy c...

I tested the rumble also with Colony War Vengeance: when using the afterburner, the Dual Shock vibrates both rumbles. The Pro 2 Wired seemed to work as intended there.

What's the best way to test the rumble feature in MiSTer? The input test program doesn't seem to have any way to initiate rumble.
Metal Gear Solid in the option offers to test each motor.

Does anyone know: Is the speed of the core (frames per second) identical to the real PSX? I never owned one, but did it really not even run with 30FPS in many games, or at least had slowdowns? Re: PSX Core Official Release

To be fair if you compare a PlayStation’s performance to what was available in the PC world in 1994 when it was new it’s pretty damn impressive. Remember this was pre 3d accelerator cards for PCs. But yes I own a PlayStation (since back in the day - also had a pc at the same time) and it feels pretty accurate to me. I'd say that even with the firs...

No Dual Shock Rumble with 8bitdo Pro Wired?

I know it's a widely used joypad, but has anybody else had trouble with rumble with the 8BitDo Pro Wired?

With the Alpha releases it was a matter of hit & miss, some releases worked, some other didn't.
But with the latest official I can't get it to rumble. :?:

Re: PSX Controller Advice

Does anyone use the PS Classic USB version of the original? I never had a PS1 back in the day, but I heard the analog controller (first w. thumbsticks) and soon after the Dual Shock both didn't even arrive until about 1999?? If true, that detail surprises me! So do PSX veterans consider the dual shock the 'better' controller yet in the same breath...

GunCon 2 Calibration

Hello,

Playing with my CRT, RGB Scart to the Scart port of my tv and the yellow thingy of the GunCon 2 inserted into the yellow composite port of the TV. The GunCon works, but the sensitivity seems to be way off. I can hardly keep the red dot of the aim in the TV. Is there any particular setting in the INI file to check?
