Re: Settings for Miami TCP/IP stack

There are two separate settings: Hostname and IP.

It sounds like you need to set Hostname to "192.168.0.254" as well, not just your IP address.

I don't get that error on my private config. My IP is set to static and 192.168.0.254 Notice the zero instead of one! I am attaching screenshots of my config. The quartz will not only have variations due to tolerances, it will for example drift with temperature as well. That is all perfectly normal. Real machines will drift like that between each other, too. If one wants to fix such quartz drift, one could of course buy a multi-thousand dollar research grade Rubidium oscillator atomic-clock and hook it u...

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

Currently, installing 0MHz-DOS overwrites a user's own AO486 config, which can be very frustrating if the user already configured their own hard disk files and configs. I have a suggestion for the collection: Why not use a setname that is different from AO486? For example "0MHz-DOS"? If each .mgl file specifies the setname 0MHz-DOS, there...

Re: AmigaVision (MegaAGS) 2023.12.25 Released with Updated Game Configurations

It is not enough to check if games were PAL only. You need to check if the developers were US devs or European devs. European devs made only "lazy" ports from PAL to NTSC that ran too fast on NTSC, including music running too fast. Just because such a port exists doesn't mean the game should be run in NTSC. So what matters is not if it wa...

Re: AmigaVision (MegaAGS) 2023.12.25 Released with Updated Game Configurations

If you want full superhires detail in the score display of Super Stardust, set your Audio&Video->Pixel Clock option in the MiSTer Core Menu to "28 MHz," not "adaptive." See here: https://github.com/amigavision/AmigaVision/issues/158

I think 28 MHz should be the new default for AmigaVision because of this problem.

Re: AmigaVision (MegaAGS) 2023.12.25 Released with Updated Game Configurations

Thanks for the new release. I love the PD Golden Age and PD Silver Age focus lists! Awesome work!!!! I found an issue with some garbled or missing sound fx on Space Taxi 3 on MiSTer. Here is a fixed slightly later version of the game (still labeled 3.0, but it is newer with bug fixes): https://files.coolatoms.org/SpaceTaxi3_fixed.lha It can just be...

I also bought the paddle adapter to get rid of jitter and it worked. Fire works as well, but you have to map the paddle fire button in core menu->define buttons. I think the paddle button is mapped separately from regular fire.

There are many great 4 player games on Amiga as well:

  • Spacetaxi 3 (4 player Space Taxi game)

  • Airtaxi (5 player Space Taxi game)

  • Sneech (8 player light cycles game)

  • Achtung! Die Kurve (6 player light cycles game with curved lines, keyboard control (2 keys per player))

Re: MiSTer Nuked-MD Mega Drive Core

Not to forget, amongst many other things, that on FPGA you have direct access to the HDMI encoder and direct I/O Pins for SNAC. Regular CPU based systems have to go through graphics drivers and GPU first for graphics, and sound drivers for sound, until you get to the HDMI video/audio out. Audiolag is not often discussed but very real with software ...

You need to name your bios boot.rom again. It was boot.bin a while ago, but it was changed back to boot.rom. It is confusing, but those kinds of things are expected with beta WIP core development. CHD works fine for me, using one folder per game, tested with Radiant Silvergun, Bug! And other games. I am still getting CD audio cutting out after a wh...

Re: The “Cycle Accurate” Conundrum and Is There a List of Cores That Are?

Note that “the man” :) didn’t say that it will never be correct. He said “100% accuracy, which is very likely never going to happen with a system so complex.” I agree though that probably nothing will ever be 100% absolutely perfect. It doesn’t have to be to enjoy playing almost all games accurately. As was mentioned here before, even original hard...

Re: The “Cycle Accurate” Conundrum and Is There a List of Cores That Are?

Speaking of cycles, this is another benefit of FPGA: all games run at full speed, regardless how many graphics effects and hardware tricks they use. The cycles are executed all the time in realtime, with real clock signals to the emulated chips, even if nothing important happens. Everything keeps running in lock step. With FPGA I don’t have to wor...

Re: AmigaVision (MegaAGS) 2023.07.17 Released with Improved Launcher Reliability

I wonder if MegaAGS for Pocket could be split up into 3 games hdf, 4GB each, plus the one hdf for saves, to get more games on Pocket. I know there’s the 4GB hdf limit on Pocket but it does allow mounting 4 hdf simultaneously. 3 separate hdf would give 12 GB for games. It might be enough for all the games. Currently some games are sorely missing fro...

Re: AmigaVision (MegaAGS) 2023.07.17 Released with Improved Launcher Reliability

On the AmigaVision webpage, it says to always run in 40:27 aspect ratio. But in the readme supplied with AmigaVision, it says to manually switch the aspect ratio setting in the MiSTer OSD depending on PAL 4x, PAL 5x, PAL 6x, etc. for each game.

Which is correct?
