Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

I am using the 0MhzDownloader script and it didn't find the Doom Ultimate MT-32 and Doom II MT-32 Version. where can I get the mt32 versions? thanks and go on Great project!! Run the usual version. Exit the game, run setup and simply change music device to mt-32 or general midi (can't remember which one is present there). Save and restart the game...

Do we still need patches for games with the last update?

Re: Core Sizes?

So, if someone interested, I got the following results for some of the newer cores: N64: Logic utilization (in ALMs) 36,710 / 41,910 ( 88 % ) Total block memory bits 1,284,912 / 5,662,720 ( 23 % ) PSX: Logic utilization (in ALMs) 39,207 / 41,910 ( 94 % ) Total block memory bits 2,539,730 / 5,662,720 ( 45 % ) Saturn: Logic utilization (in ALMs) 41,2...

Re: Core Sizes?

Yes, but I need to learn how to do that first though, because rn I have no clue on how to compile a core :) So if may be this info is available somewhere, please share.

Btw, if this info can be extracted from rbf, could please you point me to a tool which can do that?

Core Sizes?

Hi,

Is there any information on how big (LLEs, etc) current MiSTer cores are? I found one spreadsheet about that, but it looks outdated. I'm mostly interested in Console and Computer cores.

It appears I just had luck picking games that didn't have the install/setup files and had assumed someone was manually deleting them to save space.

Some games probably used CLI options instead of configs. Like the Monkey Island. Try to run main executable with /? to find out.

Re: 0MHz DOS Collection 2024.03.20 Released

So, I've tried this pack. So far, looks good. Though I don't really like having "DOS Games"right in the main menu, so I moved the folder to _Computers. I also managed to run most games with my mt32-pi, but had to exit and run setup on most of them. Monkey Island, if anyone interested, should be started with "R1" key in the comma...

Re: SNAC adapter with USB on both sides?

Why they may appear to work you are risking damage to the DE10 or the Controller. The level shifters take the voltage being supplied or coming in and adjust it to the logic level of the device. Without them you could be ewither undervolting the controller or overvolting the DE10. Yeah, I understand that. Unfortunately it's not very articulated any...

But the board itself is the standard snac board. Without it you’ll get no snac functionality.

The problem is, all my controllers work without it just fine, this is why i'm asking. I've tried NES, NES Zapper, SNES, Genesis and PC Engine. Though I've heard that some users have problems with NES controllers without it.

Re: SNAC adapter with USB on both sides?

No-no, I understand it's not an USB. Just wondering why do I need it with MiSTer. So it is a level shifter for 5V devices. Is there any list of which devices I should use with it?

SNAC adapter with USB on both sides?

Hi. I've tried to google that question, but didn't find any answer. Can someone explain what's this adapater for? I saw it in several shops and on Aliexpress of course. What does it do? It has USB3 on both sides. Is it a kind of debug board? A level converter? Why is there a jumper and a connector on it?

Demoscene on MiSTer

Hi. You've probably heard that demos are quite picky to hardware, as far as they usually go to the edge and farther of what platform is capable of. It's kind of common that not even every emulator can run demos perfectly, they should be cycle accurate or more. What about PSX core? Have anyone tried PSX demos? I did a little effort, trying to run so...

I got same problems with some games as other folks on this thread. For example, System Shock used to work before, but after recent update it just says file doesn't exists and exits. I guess something isn't properly changed in my layout, should I redownload the pack?

I can confirm it works, tried several games like Wild Gunman or Hogan's Alley, both works fine with CRT monitor. AFAIK SNES/Genesis wouldn't work though.

Re: Famicom Multitap

maybe an additional "Controllers (expansion)" option could be added that would hook the SNAC controllers up to D1 instead of D0. Famicom expansion port is one of the coolest things that happened to Famicom platform - there are tons of weird hardware (how about inflatable motorcycle?) which can be attached to it. So it would be really coo...

Famicom Multitap

Hi. Does anyone get multitap working with Famicom games? I have 4 controllers, and wished to try some of the Nekketsu games with my friends. Downtown - Nekketsu Koushinkyoku does work with all 4 players active. While Nekketsu Koukou Dodgeball-bu doesn't. Only players 1 and 2 are moving, while 3 and 4 doesn't respond to any presses. I guess Famicom ...

Re: Sonic 3 & Knuckles

The clock is set when you load the ROM, based on the region specifications already discussed. It isn't changed on a reset. The only thing you're doing is changing the in-memory region declared to the game, so the game's region-programmed behavior will change, but proper video output and timing will not be set. Well, that sounds much like a bug to ...

Re: Sonic 3 & Knuckles

About what? You don't have a ROM set that indicates the preferred/required region in the file extensions, so it doesn't work. You do have valid headers, which does work. What's the issue? I'm changing the region after loading and doing reset of the core. Why this isn't working? For Sonic 3 for example it is just enough to remove "Only for NTS...

Re: Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Ok folks, I seem to find the cause of the problem. Yes, I guess it is a timing issue, but rather related to regions, not type of storage it uses. With all settings untouched, the core is set (at least in my case) to detect region by extension. And it seem to always load ROMs as PAL. After that, I'm usually manually change the region and do a core r...

Sonic 3 & Knuckles

Hello folks! Have anyone tried the combined ROM of Sonic 3 & Knuckles? Seems like it has major glitches on MiSTer, I guess up to non-playable. I saw sprite flickering, messy main character sprites, unusual slowdowns, flickering horizontal lines etc. I first guessed that I have a corrupted ROM, but I've rechecked with No-Intro's (md5: C5B1C655C1...
