Re: How to Run Problematic Games

Before submitting bug reports, this would be a good approach: Use Ms-dos 3.3 for 286 or lower , Ms-dos 5.0 for 386+ Get software from a reputable source (Original disks, TDC, ExoDos) Make sure it works in Dosbox first (or a pc from the era) Setup the core according to developers manual/readme Make sure checksums match for essential files like biose...

Re: MDA Upgrade to Hercules

You said that in the case of “Monkey1” or “prince of persia“, the hercules screen is output to normal. But if you also check these 2 games in detail, you’ll notice that the screen is not in the center and has moved slightly to the left. So it looks like you‘re going to need a screen adjustment for the Hercules graphics module, not a problem with a...

Re: MDA Upgrade to Hercules

I am pleased to show you the first tests on the upgrade of the MDA module from Graphics Gremlin to Hercules : https://youtu.be/cIC6Rzxy5H0 There are still some screen adjustments to be made so it doesn't look scrolled to the left, and support for the two Hercules memory pages, but I've attached a first binary for you to try out. Apart from the cou...

remove and reseat your sdcard, check it in a normal pc and make sure it is still working. if thats not it, remove your analog board off the top, test, then remove the memory, test. the DE10 can run without all of those things

Let me add, that creating a second MiSTer sd-card and testing that might indicate a problem with the first.

Feature request: In-game text file reading

Hello Enjoying the core to the fullest here, but I find my self printing walkthroughs in '90 style, a lot  Would it be possible to view a text file in the game folder from the core's menu, eg: Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver (America).chd Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver (Amercia).chd.txt Use the shoulder buttons for pgup/pgdown or something. I might...

Is it possible to hardcode the buttons for the MiSTer?
It does gets its default values from somewhere, and would solve this problem.

The code that is incorporated into every MiSTer core cannot be GPL'd because it's not software and the GPL is a software license. The code that can be GPL'd is on the Linux side.

GPL is attached to code, I don't think that code has to be software.

Re: SCUMMVM

I don't have a bluetooth adapter for my MiSTer to test. You can also trigger it with a wired controller, these are the steps to reproduce for both: Wired controller: 1. Start ScummVM, wait until its loaded. 2. Disconnect wired controller 3. Wait a couple of seconds, just in case. 4. Reconnect cable 5. Push some buttons and try to navigate cross-ha...

MGL: Launch Scripts Via MGL

I saw the use of MGL as a way to start your favorite games directly from the MiSTer menu.
Would it be possible to launch scripts the same way using the menu core?

This would be ideal for ScummVM, DosBox or any other 3rd party app.

Hardware Rendering Possible?

Hi, After a year of absolute bliss with the MiSTer I am now stumbling into the side projects like ScummVM and DosBox because why not. The DE10 nano is a bit slow when it comes to those. Some games work fine, others do not, c'est la vie. Configuring to get some better performance out of them my eyes locked on "Software Rendering" and I fig...

Mine jitters and it was the vsynch_asjust and vrr_mode settings in the mister.ini file that causes it.

I don't have those values in my MiSTer.ini, did you set them to a specific value?

Correct, the controller works fine in all other cases. Some more info: Some buttons work, it think its only the action button. One button (the 'x') works and it does pause/unpause. Other buttons work but do not have the desired effect, or do nothing when pressed. Other buttons don't do anything,so nothing happens when pressing them. So I think the ...

Screen Glitching After Script Launching

I have been launching various scripts via the MiSTer menu, and I notice my screen glitching. For example, this was extremely noticeable when launching ScummVM at higher resolution 4x. Does the FPGA have its own framebuffer? because I get the feeling its not cleared properly. So I actively killed the MiSTer process and the problem still persists. It...

do you have

Code: Select all

fb_terminal=1

set in MiSTer.INI?

Thanks, but it was Linux Image corruption on my part :?

However Bluetooth controllers seem flaky in ScummVM.
Mouse-pointer and menu buttons do not work after a reconnect.

Do you think, running DOOM properly is out of the question? I would like a redo of the 486 very much, its not on par with the other cores. Its there, but I still feel its missing. What would be the time period that is actually achievable? because the ao486 had a lot of expectations that were not met imo. Are we talking everything before 1992, the p...

Re: Can I Use the FTP Server Without Compromising My Root Password?

That's because they did not build the Linux OS from the ground up.

Buildroot is used as a base and that's imo where a lot of problems come from. I think they don't know how because of <insert> reasons. From what I've seen this Linux build can be 50mb instead of the 400mb it is now.

But its a hassle, no doubt about it.

My 2 cents:
I always mark down components that are connected to GND
Sometimes they suck up a lot of heat and the iron/sucker wont work as good.

edit: this thread should be a sticky with a "CAUTION" attached to it, so others do not fall into the same trap.

If the red and green lights are alternating and fading in and out, that's what they always do when the menu core is loaded. I think you meant red and orange, the green is for disk activity. Is it possible to turn off the lights or make them stop blinking? I'd like it go dark completely if that's even possible. edit: Oh wow, I just saw that this po...
