If anyone here has an old Hori or Madcatz arcade stick, it would be worth experimenting to see if you can swap the levers (but keep the superior buttons). I'm guessing you may have to make use of a universal mounting plate.

Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display
Bob measured input lag, that is not the same thing as response time. For "gaming" computer monitors, 1-2ms input lag is very much the norm, response time that low is very much harder to come by. (Basically 240hz OLED!) You can think of input lag as the time it takes to register the start of a change. Response time is how long it takes fo...

Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display
Are there other panels purporting sub 2ms response times? I was under the impression that was a main feature along with 4:3? Bob measured input lag, that is not the same thing as response time. Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display
"Best" is probably one of those newer 27" 1440p OLED monitors attached to a VESA mount that allows tate rotation. But that is quite expensive. Still as far as flat panels go, you can't beat the motion response or perfect blacks of OLED, plus the Misters' new HDR support can make filters look good on a real HDR display. Newer, as in ...

Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display
Is the Asus ProArt PA248QV still the go-to non-CRT display for tate or are there better options now?
The response time seems pretty high (makes motion latency more apparent right?) and the price is not that great.

What monitor do you use?PikWik wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 8:40 pm i have played with SNAC on a modern HDTV, a HD computer monitor, and also have a SNES & CRT.
i play alot of kaizo super mario hacks, and the input response is "identical" to my CRT setup using the MiSTer with a wired daemonbite, vsync2, and a fast computer monitor @ 1080p

Re: NEC PC-FX
I suppose those of who wish to enjoy its library will have to start learning Japanese as well (which is an idea I am toying with). By my count, there's three fully-playable unofficial translations. Looks like the chances of this happening may be pretty slim. I wonder if there are any Japanese people out there who have any interest in video game pre...

There is, but it may require help from someone in China:

Re: Direct Video - do I need to mess around with jumpers on the IO board?
The 12V on SCART pin 8 and 3V on pin 16 are only needed for TVs with original SCART connectors, and they tell the video processor to switch inputs to RGB and to use 4:3 aspect ratio. They aren't needed on a SCART RGB modded American TV. In other words you should be fine. I'm not too sure about the HDMI to VGA dongle though, as it doesn't use the r...

Direct Video - do I need to mess around with jumpers on the IO board?
I purchased a pre-built (at the time it was cheaper than buying separately) MiSTer setup a while ago that comes with the digital IO board . It has yet to arrive, but I'd just like to make sure of a few things. I intend to use it with a consumer CRT that has been modded with a RGB SCART input. I also purchased a VGA-to-HDMI converter and a VGA-to-SC...

Re: GUN2CRT, the new universal CRT lightgun adapter
Yes the G-Con45 is the model 1  For now it will be focusing on this model yes, but I might try other guns eventually once this one is fully supported. Surely gcon2 will work with a linux driver as a HID mouse. You'd only need an adapter for composite sync. I've actually done this before on linux, I'm not sure how to compile a linux driver...

Re: MiSTer Vs Original Nintendo Battletoads Clinger-Winger The Ultimate Lag Test
SNAC is amazing but if you want to keep things on a lower budget, you're not missing that much by using a decent-rated USB controller. It's a whole lot of fun to strive for perfection but definitely not necessary. I am a perfectionist, especially when I'm creating a setup like a retro gaming room with a MiSTer and CRT. I'll see how things go with ...

Re: MiSTer Vs Original Nintendo Battletoads Clinger-Winger The Ultimate Lag Test
The uploader of that video mentioned that he didn't actually use an original controller with his MiSTer setup to beat that level. It was a Hori Fighting Commander, which is nowhere near the best in terms of input lag from what I've seen in the spreadsheet. That's a bit of a relief for me, because I was dreading the thought of needing to buy origina...

Forgive my ignorance as I'm still waiting for my MiSTer to arrive but, it sounds like they did go into the OSD as they selected the 'Save backup RAM' option.

Late response but, what core did you use? Have you tried posting the issue here?

Re: Neo Geo CD
I came across this thread after I learned about an hour ago that the Neo Geo CD actually exists (I live in a country where Neo Geo home consoles just weren't a thing). What I gathered from reading through is that people here have been discussing whether the exclusive content and features of its software library are things worth developing a core fo...
