Re: GPIO to Spare? SPI? I2C?

Whatever you do, use optical isolation to protect your MiSTer. The circuits of a CRT are not friendly to sensitive equipment like the DE-10. Even if the remote board is lower voltage (i.e. not 20kV) I would never want to risk it... So first design a way to control the remote board using optocoupled inputs, maybe experiment with an Arduino... then m...

Best case you can find some fried SMD component like a resistor or diode near the VGA port.

This did not work for me. After defining joystick buttons for P1, the OSD menu stopped responding to my controls.

This is why I went with the JPAC in keyboard mode and recommend it to everyone.

Re: Cannot see JAMMA controls through JAMMAsd or IPAC

Make sure the IPAC is in default (keyboard) mode, and make sure you don't try to use the jamma_vid/pid option in MiSTer.ini. You do not have to (and should not) use the "Define joystick buttons" UI. It should just work out of the box. Which cores are you trying? Btw, the input test core will NOT work. It doesn't show MAME key inputs for s...

The term comes from the technology itself. The electron beam scans across the screen, line by line.

Re: USB hub not being recognized

The MiSTer USB OTG port is incredibly finicky. You are probably stuck with the 4-port hub until you can find another one that works.

I had the best luck with a spare part USB hub from a cash register PC. It works 100% flawlessly. I suggest looking in that direction if you have trouble - older, solid parts that are built to work.

Can confirm versions after Jan 31 seem to break sync. But I wouldn't worry, Robert hasn't started working on fixing sync yet, so it's sheer luck that it did. Not sure why it broke though.

Re: PSX Compatibility List

Oh so games never ran at higher resolution in Pal mode? Or you're just saying than you can't have both wil a Pal 60 mode? They run at a slightly higher res ( 256p vs 240p ), but at 50hz. If they run at 60hz, they use the NTSC resolution, with PAL color encoding, that is PAL60, which never existed on the real PSX, it was introduced with the Dreamca...

Re: PSX Compatibility List

i'm from PAL territory and the only reason i'd ever play a PAL version would be if there's no US or JAP version of that game. I think some interesting cases exist where Pal versions of some games run at higher resolution than NTSC versions. Combined with the Pal 60 mode in the core it could make for a few games running at higher res while having a...

What sort of lines did you have? My D.V. issue was always that the sync was off somehow, leading to mid frame horizontal glitches.

Re: Could We Ever Get 2/4/6 Slot MVS Emulation?

Yeah probably needs some interaction with the HPS side. On an MVS, it seems that pins 26/d of the "JAMMA"-like connector are used for the game selection buttons (same ones used for button 5 on CHAMMA). I would in fact love if more signals like these were allowed to be mapped in/out of the system. Coin counters, status LEDs etc are common ...

Re: MiSTercade Vertical setup - Most games upside down?

I feel your pain, ran into the same problem. I ended up rotating the tube 180 degrees.

Another solution is to swap the two vertical yoke wires with each other, and the two horizontal yoke wires with each other. This will effectively rotate the screen 180 degrees. (The usual safety warnings apply.)
