That was indeed the issue. I apologize. It seems that the MRA I modified was an old one without that line. Please test the attached MRA and if it works, would someone (can I abuse you once more neurorulez ?) submit a PR? Merged. Has this improvement been released? Thanx for the pure MSX core. VG-8020 is my MSX machine, The brother of your specs but with 64KB RAM in slot 3 if you wanna use more ram :D .

Includes patch in `git am` format. The .MRA changes are not in the patch though.

(Edit: new version fixes an inconsistency with tabs and spaces in the patch, but the core is unchanged)

I haven't had a chance to try this yet, but can we get this into the main core if it is indeed better? I've added the patch so that someone else can submit it, because I left GitHub when MS acquired it. The Vflip in the Qbert core seems to only mirror flip the game (backwards). I'd like to play this on my vertical monitor, but it only orientates itself upside down in the presect core state and the Vflip option just flips the image backwards. Is there a fix for this?
