bootcore_timeout Not Working Anymore

I updated my Mister last night and the bootcore_timeout isn't working anymore. In MiSTer.ini I have these two lines: bootcore=lastcore ; uncomment to autoboot a core, as the last loaded core. bootcore_timeout=10 When turning on, it will load the lastcore, but it won't do the 10 second timeout as specified, it boots the core straight away. Might be ...

Re: Bug or faulty SDRAM module?

That’s definitely what it seems to be happening, but I think it should be the OS’s responsibility to finish loading all required modules before automatically booting any core.

Either way, thanks for confirming the same thing happened to you! :)

Bug or faulty SDRAM module?

I have this 128 MB module which works well, except in one scenario: In MiSTer.ini, if I use the option to boot the last core: bootcore=lastcore but with no timeout at all (line commented out): ;bootcore_timeout=10 the RAM module doesn't get detected by the system. The icon doesn't show up in the menus, nor memtest detects it. However, if I add a ti...

Re: Accessing System menu while using bootcore=lastcore

I just found the way. You just need to do a regular "Reboot", not a "Cold reboot" (which does run the last core again)

Accessing System menu while using bootcore=lastcore

I'm using the bootcore=lastcore (and timeout commented out) for an arcade cabinet. Is there a way to access the system's main menu (the one that allows running scripts, etc) while using this option? AFAIK the only way to access that menu is by rebooting, but because I'm using bootcore=lastcore without any timeout, the only option I can think of is ...

Re: Select Arcade Cores Not Working Properly (Black Screen, Visual Artifacts)

Today I tried deleting both the DoDonPachi and SSF2T ROMs and cores, then ran update_all, but still no luck.

However, using the .mras lamarax posted fixed the issue with the DoDonPachi Japan core I had (thanks!!). It now starts correctly.

This is so strange... could it be some bug in the updater script?

Re: Select Arcade Cores Not Working Properly (Black Screen, Visual Artifacts)

Tonight I tried SSF2T. First 5 times or so it worked well. Then I switched to other core, and when I tried again, I did get those artifacts as well. I didn’t have enough time for a proper memtest, but something strange happened. According to the doc, the test didn’t detect the 128 mb module I do have attached (showed a 0 as the left most digit of t...

Re: Select Arcade Cores Not Working Properly (Black Screen, Visual Artifacts)

Not of much help but…

I also have the same issue with DoDonPachi (Japan)

I haven’t tried SSFT yet (will try later if I get some free time) I’ll look at passing the memtest too.

Would be great to know why this happens.
