Re: MiSTress - Conversion Kit for Amiga cases
I have my MiSTress A600 up and working now and I love it. One thing I can't figure out is the controller ports though. I have connected a genesis controller and go though a button mapping session, and it seems to register all my buttons, but then when I get into the MiSTer menu or into a game the controller does not work. Is there a trick to get i...

Re: MiSTress - Conversion Kit for Amiga cases
Just wondering, are the two DB9 ports on the 600 kit compatible with Sega Genesis/Mega Drive controllers - in particular the six button ones? Yes, unlike the previous MiSTress models (which have a single DB9 port CD32 compatible), the MiSTress 600 has two low latency DB9 ports compatible with Sega Megadrive (3 or 6 buttons), Master System, Atari a...

Re: Would Cloud FPGA Gaming be feasible down the road?
All this 5g and 6g latency mumbo-jumbo is just the network operator trying to sell you on their proprietary cloud infrastructure that they are building to be resident at the cell tower itself. This is the only way they are going to get that low latency as there will only be 1 "hop". As soon as you go out to the internet in general the num...

Re: Best Version of Original R-Type Playable On MiSTer?
There is a hacked version of R-Type for SuperGrafx (Chris Covell). It's just the first few levels, but it uses the extra resolution of the SGX to show the full playfield height (rather than the scrolling on PCE). One of my favourite versions to play!

Why not just look it up on your phone or tablet? Then you can have that available while you are playing. Makes for much better experience IMHO.

It's not a script problem, it's a WiFi problem. For some reason nobody here can admit that WiFi does not, and has not been reliable on MiSTer. Solution is to use ethernet or update via your PC

So the connect has to be an internal bus rather than external? I don’t see why that makes a difference in the case of MT32piFPGA64 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 11:09 am0 % its a standalone device that communicates with the Mister.ARCADEAGES wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 7:35 pm Just curious; would y'all consider MiSTer + MT32Pi to be hybrid emulation?

Re: Some Scripts Stop Working For No Reason At All From Time To Time
What's your MiSTer setup? OTG hub, or USB board? If OTG, is it self-powered, or just powered form the micro USB port? If USB board, how are you powering it? Just through the micro USB port, or do you have a Y splitter for the DE-10 nano's power? What's the rating on your power supply? Do you have an inline power switch? I don’t think any of this m...

Re: Some Scripts Stop Working For No Reason At All From Time To Time
You are not having a script problem, it's as you say a WiFi problem. WiFi has never worked well on MiSTer. I don't know why they keep suggesting people use it as we keep hearing people complain about it. I was one of these complainers about 2 years ago. I learned to give up on WiFi and just use ethernet. It's a bummer.

I've not encountered that in North America. Wish I did! How do you think those PAL tv's would fare with odd arcade PCB refresh-rates?

5B665819-132D-498F-8201-F50918EDA136.jpeg These are unique! One of the best features of PVMs for me over any other display for legacy / retro hardware is their ability to natively sync with not just NTSC, but also PAL/SECAM, as well as a lot of the various wacky arcade PCB refresh rates. Basically a PVM lets you natively display any SD era console...

Re: Would snac link cable be possible for 2 player back to back cabs?
head-2-head or in this case back-2-back setups for fighting games in the arcade did not use 2 PCBs. Its a single PCB, with audio and video split to go to both cabs, and control wiring forked to go to both cabs. Different story for games that require each player to have their own view (eg. Daytona). In this case you need a full 2nd setup w a link ca...

Here's what you do: I assume you have a gamepad with at least 4 face buttons, let's call them A B C D Define your gamepad in central mapping (menu core), and assign a OSD button to it Load the TG16 core Map your gamepad once, using A and B for I and II Select "yes" when asked if you want alternate mapping Skip all buttons except C and D,...

and although I have a CRT my partner gives me a tough time over the potential health risks of sitting in front of it. AFAIK there are virtually no health risks for sitting in front of a CRT. Sitting behind one however does pose risk, but even then you would have to be very close to the rear. Humans have spent the better part of 70 years sitting in...

It is painfully obvious that some of you just want to play video games, and don't care about the linux underpinnings at all with regard to best practices. That is unfortunate. That's not true. I'd like to know how the userland and kernel are compiled and packaged, but I didn't get a reply. I'd love to see a newer and more up to date kernel, and wi...
