Re: GB Core / SGB Core Confusion

As a work around you can load the game with System set to Gameboy, wait for the border to appear and then load the game with System set to Auto or GBC.

That actually works, thank you! So: Set the system to Gameboy, load the game, wait for the border to appear, set the system to Auto and reload. The border stays, the game is in GBC mode.

Re: GB Core / SGB Core Confusion

Thanks! I know how to set custom borders in the GB, and that actually works fine for me . What I'm wondering about is why the game-specific border doesn't show up, since it does in the SGB core. I've seen the wiki and read through quite a lot of it, but it is a bit short on core-specific information. It's only the README.md for each core, right? So...

Re: GB Core / SGB Core Confusion

I managed to find some of the answers by myself, sorry for not looking enough first: Yes, the SGB core is SNES-based. There's actually another thread that details that... silly me. In the GB core, under Audio/Video there is "Stabilize video(buffer)". Setting that to on fixes the screen issue. What I'm still not sure about is... Should the...

GB Core / SGB Core Confusion

Hi, I started playing around with the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Super Game Boy cores today, and sorry if this is a silly question (I'm new to MiSTer), but I'm pretty confused as to what core can do what. Is the "Game Boy" and "Game Boy Color" core actually the same? It seems both can load GBC games fine and show the right co...

Re: Inject audio to SCART on Multisystem

I definitely wouldn't go that far. It's still a nice package overall, but considering how much they stressed the RGB SCART output in the introductory videos, it is disappointing that the audio signal on it suffers from so much noise.

Inject audio to SCART on Multisystem

Hi, I have a MiSTer Multisystem which is connected to a 15 kHz TV via its built-in SCART RGB output. That generally works really well, but unfortunately, the Multisystem only provides the native MiSTer analog audio on the SCART cable. That is okay for the most part, but has a significant amount of annoying noise based on the image. I have a properl...

Re: Trouble with PAL/NTSC Output on CRT

Thanks! I don't have a chance to try it on another 15 kHz TV, but this 100 Hz one has served me well so far. It's definitely usable anyway, worst case I'll have to adjust a bit in the service menu between cores or find a "mostly okay" setting that works for both. As I said, PAL on Amiga is just fine with the factory settings - and I've op...

Re: Trouble with PAL/NTSC Output on CRT

I grew up with PAL (I'm Australian), and I can assure that these Japanese systems always looked squished on our TVs with significant letterboxing, and with some basic knowledge of the resolutions involved, it's easy to understand why. At the end of the day, they were designed for NTSC and bodged in various ways to at least work in PAL. That makes ...

Re: Trouble with PAL/NTSC Output on CRT

It will look squished in PAL if you're using the 256 × 224 test pattern. Have you tried the 256 × 239 pattern? That is actually a good point, but it doesn't change all that much: SNES-PAL-239.jpg So as you can see, the image is still squished. The Amiga is horrible and deviant for normal TV standards, yes. That is a surprising statement considerin...

Re: Trouble with PAL/NTSC Output on CRT

Well, but the image I was showing above is the 240p Test Suite for PAL. That clearly can't be a bad game conversion, that's a matter of the general PAL output of the SNES core. Surely the original European SNES didn't always output a misaligned image?

Trouble with PAL/NTSC Output on CRT

Hi, I'm pretty new to MiSTer and have gotten a MiSTer Multisystem a while back. For video output, I use the built-in RGB SCART port. In case you aren't familiar with this hardware, this is what the manual says about it: For technical reference the SCART sync output is automatically combined from the VSync and HSync signals, this combined sync is th...

Re: MiSTer Multisystem - All-in-One System

I have a bunch of them fitted into fully built system here and I can't really hear them at all unless I get my head down just over the fan vent. I always run them at 3.3v and actually most of the systems here are running 24/7 with no fan fitted at all. - the fan is basically just something to get some airflow in high temperature ambient or if you ...
