How are you getting sound? I tried connecting speakers to the auido port on the HDMI>VGA, and I just get buzzing.

Regarding your problem, it's a little strange that it seems to have the horizontal sync working but starting in the totally wrong part of the screen... Is it possible you hooked up to positive sync on your k4900? Sync from the MiSTer is negative sync. I believe you nailed it. I'm connected to positive sync. I'm at work now.
