Re: Is it important to keep Linux up to date on MiSTer?

If you don't need support/fixes for specific controllers, controller adapters, Wheels, force feedback etc...then it's probably fine.

Check the commits and you see what you are missing when you never update the kernal.

You get the Linux update automatically via update_all.script.

Copy bbmanw.zip manually and the update_all.script works fine. At least on my MiSTer.

Try roms from a No-Intro set. Both games are working just fine with the current core.

With VRR capable displays tearing and stutter shouldn't happen anymore in most emulators (if they have VRR support of course).

Yeah, i understand that. But the FPGA of the RT5x is pretty much full. Adding another resolution means you have to remove something. 4:3 display aspect was the standard though back then. Despite the fact that the Amiga (PAL) has a 5:4 pixel aspect. Best resolution for 4:3 displays would be 1920x1440. This covers the most consoles and computers with...

Of course using HMDI/direct video and an external video scaler gives you the desired results much easier. Mister can output in 0.5 and 0.25 integer steps too, via vscale_mode= 2 or 3. And integer resolution scaling (4-5) is worth a try too. I would check what this option exaclty fills on your screen (depending on the tested games). I don't have a 4...

Have you tried vscale_mode=5? The Settlers uses a viewable 352x272 resolution, which is close enough to 5:4. But: A higher native screen resolution gives you of course a better chance to hit a perfect integer while filling the whole screen.

The Amiga never had fixed resolutions. The entire screen is fully programmable, and a lot of games uses a non-standard viewable image size. You never get a real full screen or a decent integer you want for all the games. It works best for PAL overscan games like the The Settlers or some from Team 17.

Re: Turbo cores

There aren't separate Turbo cores (except for the Neo Geo, that is mainly for Metal Slug 2) for the arcade games. Just check the core settings for each game/core. There are more games as i said, not just Irem92. Just a few to check: Toaplan v1/2, or some CPS1/CPS2 games. On Toaplan it's called "68 Freq." where you can select a higher MHz ...

Ok, i take it back. The single Ram "Saturn_unstable_20240929_15da53.rbf" core has CD audio too for Battle Garegga. Make sure you get a proper multi bin/cue redump image. Got a single bin/cue before and that one was borked.

Probably an issue with the included FMV intro in MPEG-1 format. I doubt that the CD32 MPEG addon module is implemented yet. Forgot about it that Cannon Fodder CD32 uses it, should be the only game though (besides the support for Video-CD movies).

Extreme accuracy on all levels isn' t important for 3D Konsoles like the N64. It's quite a bit different to older 8bit/16bit systems which really need cycle exact timings.

Make sure you have the latest Jotego updates via update_all.script. Then go to Dip Switch -> Service Mode = on. There you can set the flip screen = on option. Don't forget to use "Reset to apply" to save the settings.

Mouse works fine for me. Tested Virtua Cop 2. Make sure mouse it set as Pad 1 and ingame you have press the third/middle mouse button as start. The (also plugged) Joypad mapped "start" button also works.
