That worked a treat, thanks!aberu wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 6:30 pm Look for a BS-X bios that is english and DRM-free, think it's called BS-X Project or something...
But even then, if you aren't connecting to a BS-X service, a ton of that stuff in the town won't load, this is by design, as it referenced actual network locations.

Re: AO486 Compatibility List
As far as I know that's correct, I googled a bit and found the forum post on vogons I had read a while back that went into it a bit.

Re: AO486 Compatibility List
Nice list so far, though Warcraft 1 is listed as no cd audio, if I remember correctly it was included on the disc but only actually worked on Mac, as a workaround for a Mac related audio issue.

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
Didn't wind up working for me, still stuck at calibration, but I appreciate the help, I also couldn't find any option to disable the joystick. This game just doesn't like the joystick implementation of the core.IAmParadox wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 5:26 pm The keyboard can emulate a joystick, press the scroll lock key.

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
Did you try disabling the joystick in the core settings? If it's enabled in the settings, then I think that yes, a joystick will be assigned even if you didn't connect one. To me this makes sense since it allows controllers to be hotswappable. That would be great. I must have missed it, just saw the 2/4/gravis toggle. I'll have to take another loo...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
Are the beta cores assigning a joystick even when one is not connected? I'm trying to run a game that I'm pretty sure has keyboard support but it goes to a joystick calibration screen that I cant get past. I've tried hooking up a "joystick" (8bitdo m30 - bluetooth) and it doesn't register button presses no matter what mode it's set to (2b...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
For me Warcraft has run on all versions including the main release, my Warcraft is patched to the latest official version as it's the gog release of it. I don't think they messed with the game itself since they just bundle it with dosbox.

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
Unplugging everything but keyboard had no effect. However Dark Forces audio glitches seem to be user error on my part, I was consolidating a couple vhds and copied a dark forces folder over that hadn't had the soundblaster settings set correctly. With Warcraft who knows, it has the same audio issues on the main release core too so it may just not l...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
Didn't tried Warcraft, but so far I had no issues with Dark Forces, I played an hour or so. @Jayde Six, I'm maybe wrong but so far I remember, AO486 is quite demanding in terms of power. Could a non strong enough power supply cause this issue ? Hmmm, looks like I'm going to have to try to troubleshoot some stuff. Power supply is a good suggestion,...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache
To Add to the info I've got sound issues with Dark Forces and Warcraft, where the audio starts getting really choppy/distorted after like 10 mins or so. I checked and Warcraft did it with the release core too so some sound issues (outside of the id games music issue) might not be related to these betas but weren't noticed yet because the games were...

Re: USB hub with one non-working port?
I've heard it's for stuff like external drives that require more power to run. Though if you are using the stock power supply with the y splitter cable you still have the limits of the original power supply, it won't give ya more than that.

Re: USB hub with one non-working port?
It will be hard to see once assembled but right above that port it says pwr1 and it only provides power.

Re: Aspect ratio and integer scaling
Count me among those that care about this too. I'd love an integer scale option. If this doesn't gain traction was it intensive to recompile the cores with the options? Would all cores need it or are there ones that already integer scale horizontal?

Update.ini Question
Looking at the update.ini file I was wondering if it would be possible for me to add secondary locations to the core category paths section. What I would like to do is make a '_Favorites' folder on root and make a copy of the cores I use most often in it. Also if it is possible, would it look at the locations in sequential order, and would it updat...

Re: Intermittent Video Problem
This is not SNES core specific. How long is your HDMI cable? Do you use HDMI slitter? Sometime the HDMI buffer acts up, the solution as you said is hard reset (button on IO board). Using a 6' cord into an A/V reciever. Haven't noticed it with other cores but have been spending most of the time with the snes core so it wouldn't surprise me if the o...

Intermittent Video Problem
Sometimes when I first boot up a game in the SNES core I get any number of video issues that either work themselves out over time or are solved by multiple reboots. This happens even when first powering up and going straight into the SNES Core. I've seen a bunch of white vertical lines A black screen with the game audio playing (the MiSTer osd and ...

Re: Heatsink Adhesive Question
I wouldn't worry about it to much. If you have a ohm-meter you can test your self if it is conductive. Carefully place one pin of our ohm-meter on the right side of the adhesive and the other pin on the left side without touching the heat sink itself. If your ohm-meter show anything else then "0" the adhesive is conductive. That's a grea...

Re: Controller Latency
Hope you guys don't mind a question. The wiki mentions upping the USB polling rate, and that it usually doesn't cause any side effects, but doesn't list what those would be. Are we talking increased wear and tear on the controller/receiver? Or something like dropped inputs?

Re: Heatsink Adhesive Question
Are you sure it is a metal mesh? I could imagine that it is an elastic compound and the idea is to fill the gabs in the mesh when the heat sink is pressed against the surface. Therefor the tape gets thinner. With any thermal tape or paste the goal is to have it even and as thin as possible (but not to thin ;) ). But it's only a guess, haven't seen...

Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread
Would it be possible to use 'video_mode' to create a 1200p in a 1080p window like the ossc and analogue products do? Sacrificing some of the top and bottom of the picture to get fullscreen integer scaling.

Heatsink Adhesive Question
Hi, I ordered a heatsink from digikey along with my DE10-Nano and the thermal tape doesn't look like any examples I have seen others use. It looks like a metal mesh. The listing doesn't say anything about it other than it is thermal tape adhesive. W1JvpM50.jpeg I was wondering if anyone has seen this type before and whether or not it is safe to use...
