Re: MIDI input not recognized?

Have you tried changing the various MIDI settings in the core menu, even if they're already correctly set (ie change them to the wrong setting and then change them back)? I sometimes have to do that for the X68000 core to get my Roland MIDI modules to recognize the output from the MiSTer, but haven't tried other cores or outputting from a module t...

Re: Salamander Issue Fixes

I was playing the Life Force (US) ROM today and noticed that the dialogue was substantially quieter than what it is at my local arcade. Is there any way to adjust this manually?

Also, is there any progress on the full screen setting via OSD?

This is still a crazy good game. It's amazing to me that it can be played on the MiSTer. Thank you again.

Re: Salamander Issue Fixes

I apologize for the confusion I will try to explain it a little better. I also attached a photo detailing the issue. I currently have two configs on the MiSTer: Config 1 is pretty vanilla and works with almost everything. Salamander looks good on both CRT and LCD via HDMI Config 2 has some pretty weird settings dialed in on the inisettings, but has...

Re: Salamander Issue Fixes

Insane work. I've been looking forward this this core for years. Thank you. After some playing around, I realized I'm experiencing a weird issue with the full screen setting on one of my alternate configs. Usually I'm able to choose a full screen option within a core to prevent the video from squishing in the center of the screen. However, with the...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Anyone got a solution for the aspect ratio 'full screen' that is missing on the Saturn core? In 240p120Hz on my PC CRT monitor the image is squished. Same here. I brought this up a while back and there was at least one other person with the same issue. I'm not sure we ever received an official response, but I seem to remember someone saying later ...

Re: MIDI NES

Thanks for the reply and insight. I did have a few requests re: GBMidi (and others where applicable). Unless I'm missing something, it seems that "patches" are enabled, but A) there's no way to save/load these patches independently and B) no way to un-tether from the four slots available (even fewer for noise/wav). Also, I see that certai...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

Spent some more trying to find a solution this morning - started fresh and reinstalled everything on the PC and MiSTer. Groovymame must be seeing the MiSTer in the direct connection because the bouncing ball screen blanks out, and it's likely not a VGA resolution issue because the HDMI is output from the MiSTer is also displaying a black screen in ...

Re: Setting MiSTer eth0 static IP causes wlan0 to not work.

I'm not that much into Linux but you do need to set a route somewhere or communication will be limited to your local subnet. Having two interfaces active on the same subnet at the same time can be done but it does need some careful hand holding to handle the default route and the interface it uses. Correct - the OP is missing the 'routers' like th...

Re: Setting MiSTer eth0 static IP causes wlan0 to not work.

@bas / @rhester - I guess I'm not entirely sure what that means. I'm trying to get groovymister working (this is why I needed a static IP), so I followed instructions here: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?t=7781 That said, I think this is all starting to click. So if I do this the way the post states, there's likely no way for the MiSTer to co...

Setting MiSTer eth0 static IP causes wlan0 to not work.

Hey everyone, so I have a bizarre issue with my MiSTer. If I F9 into my unit to change the dhcpcd.conf file to feature the following: interface eth0 static ip_address=192.168.1.6/24 it causes the MiSTer to throw errors when trying to connect wirelessly (FTP, update_all, etc). However, if I remove the static IP, everything works totally fine again. ...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

@thorr - I'm sorry, I didn't realize you meant to look for the volatile framebuffer setting on the MiSTer itself. I was looking in the .ini/mame settings menu. You said core and I seem to have overlooked that key word. This was definitely just me pulling a stupid! The volatile framebuffer setting was set to on, so I toggled it, but I still get a bl...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

@calamity - I followed the directions, and while the bouncing ball blanks out on the VGA monitor, I can't actually do anything because the screen is still black like before. The OSD VIDEO setting in the .ini file is pointed to display on the mister, so it seems like nothing happens on the PC side of things, but I don't know for sure because, well, ...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

@thorr - I am not seeing anything regarding "volatile framebuffer" in any mame menu or the .ini file. A google search for "volatile framebuffer" pulls back exactly two entries, one of which is groovymisterpwm, which seems to be yet another version/fork. I sincerely appreciate the help, but this is now officially way WAY over my ...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

This is what I'm talking about though. What is there? I understand that it's GroovyMAME, but then how does GroovyMister and/or Mistercast and the original MAME installation play into this? Different sets of the available instructions are not clear as to what's needed for a beginner. The post above says to replace mame.ini with mame_mister.ini, but ...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

Just downloaded groovymame and I don't see any sort of mame.ini/mame_mister.ini.

I hate to say it, but I'm officially giving up on this idea. This was supposed to be a fun idea to try out, but it has turned into anything but.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

Thinking about this further, is it even possible to send groovy mister to a VGA monitor? Every example I've seen is on a CRT television or PVM. The screen goes dark, but I'm not getting the usual "resolution not supported" error I usually get from my monitor when I try sending it something it doesn't like. I suppose you are using last ve...

Yep, pings just fine. Sent four packets/received four. 484ms average. Hey, it's progress I suppose. Now the question is: does anyone know why I have a black screen? When I close M...

Weird, so after taking a long walk I was able to change the dhcpcd.conf with the necessary info as it's working again. Does that seem right if I have an Ethernet ca...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

I'm still not able to get this to work. I grabbed the MAC address from the mister and set up a static IP for the mister in my router, but it has me thinking - why is this necessary if I now have a direct/wired connection via ethernet cable from the laptop to the mister? That said, I am still seeing the wifi symbol in the mister menu and not the net...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

I think I understand- so in all three scenarios the MiSTer must be connected physically via Ethernet cable, whether it's to the computer running MAME, router, or access point; whereas the source of MAME can be wireless if need be?

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I wonder if it would be possible to have a full screen option in the future on the saturn core? I use a 240p/120hz modeline for my monitor which looks incredible but it does require the option for full screen otherwise the screen is squished, most cores have this option and it really looks fantastic but saturn is one that doesnt so i have to play ...
