Re: NTP Not Updating Automatically

Thank you for this! I'm having the same issue where ntp doesn't sync unless I manually run the rtc.sh script.

I checked my /var/log/messages file and it seems like there are a bunch of stack traces from my wireless adapter, so I'm assuming it just takes longer to connect now because of that.

Re: WiFi drivers being messed up by recent updates

I'm having this issue after doing an update in the past week or so. Tried an rtl8188eu and an rtl871x chipset, and neither works anymore. The 8188eu I had originally had to compile the driver for, but it seemed to be working without for a while before this most recent update broke it. If it's useful to anyone, there is small exception stacktrace in...

Re: DOOM Enemy Behavior?

Tested and I'm seeing the same behavior. Enemies make the "saw you" grunt over and over and have to be super close before they attack. Also made sure I didn't have turbo mode on for snes or super fx to rule out it causing the issue.

SNES audio channels fix/enhancement

I was playing some LTTP and Megaman X yesterday in celebration of the SNES 30th Anniversary, and was really noticing that "thing" where in many games when sound effects play it causes some channels of the soundtrack to cut out. Secret of Mana was pretty bad for it, but it happens in enough games to make me think it's almost a feature/limi...

Re: Screen tearing after playing Zelda LTTP for multiple hours.

I can confirm that I've seen screen tearing after playing Breath of Fire II, though I'm not sure how long I was playing before I saw it. I'm on a Samsung plasma, I have heatsink and fan and no case on MiSTer. I normally see a bit of frame skip every few seconds or so, and I feel like the screen tear replaces the frame skip. I wonder if the problem ...

Re: Composite blend filters are hurting my eyes.

I've been using the composite blend filters in most of my cores for a while now, and haven't noticed any eye strain. My tv is a 50" plasma. Maybe temporal dithering is the problem? Having suffered eye strain in the past (and present) it's one of those things that is almost impossible to nail down the actual source of. In my case, I've had dece...

Re: Getting your HDMI2VGA Working with MiSTer

I gave this a shot for component video, built the adapter described here https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/wiki/Direct-Video#setup-for-ypbpr-signals, and tested 2 different hdmi->vga adapters (one from aliexpress, another from amazon) and had mixed results. The video was super bright (my crt was buzzing from the bloom), but blacks were wa...

Re: direct_video, ypbpr, and hdmi_limited

I'm curious about this as well. I have the exact same setup and settings as you, and my blacks seem extra black and the picture looks overly bright (compared to other component signals I have connected.) I've tried all the hdmi_limited settings, and they don't seem to cause any change. I'm using this adapter: https://www.amazon.ca/Rankie-Adapter-3-...

Atari 800 core help

I've tried this core a few times, but it never actually seems to load. All I get is a blank screen, can't bring up the ui, and eventually my TV will lose sync (plasma 1080p) and won't display anything. From what I can tell, it no longer needs a vhd or bios file, but what am I missing here? (My setup is a DE10 Nano + 128mb ram + mister addons usb hub)

I found a decent "solution" for bluetooth sync woes (actually no...)

Like many of you, I've been having problems syncing bluetooth controllers (NES/SNES Online.) It seems like pairing always works, but after that syncing seems hit or miss. Just now I discovered a way that seems to work very reliably. While the MiSTer is running, unplug the bluetooth dongle, plug it back in, and then immediately try to sync. This wor...

Re: Philips TV 15khz NTSC TV CRT Display Sync Issues on Some Cores but Not Others

There was a thread a while ago about adding some silent noise to the video/audio signals to help with similar problems over hdmi: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=661 I wonder if something like this could help here as well? Something like the gameboy core's "Stabilize Video" feature, but would insert low level black frames.

I still think it would be great if the Analogue DAC signal spec was opened up so that other devices (MiSTer?) could support it.

Re: Silent noise over HDMI / optical (Feature request)

@mahen: the problem occurs with the video as well. Any time it goes to a "black" screen, my whole display goes extra black (looks like it's off) and then comes back on once there is something to display again, but with a slight delay. This doesn't happen with my other consoles (WiiU, Switch), so I'm going to assume they send some sort of ...

Re: Silent noise over HDMI / optical (Feature request)

Not sure if this is the right place for feature requests, but I would love to see this as well. I get lots of cases of video/audio cut off and weird black screen transitions with my setup right now, but I kind of figured it was something I'd have to just live with.

Re: Bluetooth pairing issues with NES/SNES Online controllers

I actually got a controller to sync by pressing a button (down), waiting a second or so to see if it connects, pressing the sync button to stop it if it doesn't connect, and just repeating this around 3 times. Didn't have to re-pair.

Re: Bluetooth pairing issues with NES/SNES Online controllers

Actually, I've now found that I can have it fail at syncing a few times, I'll turn off the mister, come back to it later, try again to sync and it syncs on the first try no problem, without ever having to repair. Very strange.

Re: Bluetooth pairing issues with NES/SNES Online controllers

Just for fun, I've started digging in to what actually happens when pairing and what the files actually look like in /var/lib/bluetooth. Seems you get a folder with IDs, one for each of your bluetooth devices (dongles), and in that folder is some stored configuration about the devices that are paired. I looked at this folder before a failed pairing...

Another question then:

In the docs for manually compiling my wifi driver, I have to copy a 4mb file into /lib/modules/4.19.0-socfpga-r1/ which works. But isn't this folder under / which is read-only?

Re: Bluetooth pairing issues with NES/SNES Online controllers

I recently discovered that without the IO board, I can hold down the button assigned to the menu on the DE-10 for 3 seconds to activate the bluetooth menu, which is awesome. Prior to that my solution was to use the BT script with my 2.4ghz controller, but I found that often it would get stuck in the script after pairing and I'd need to pull out the...

Bluetooth pairing issues with NES/SNES Online controllers

These controllers work great once paired, but I find they unpair very often and somewhat randomly. When I turn on MiSTer and press a button to see if they're still paired, it's almost as if I have a 50/50 chance of it working. When I re-pair them, it's as if they're pairing for the first time all over again. My original thought was that I was using...

I found the overall volume of the PC engine core became much lower than any of the other cores since the CD support was added, but I haven't noticed any balance issues. Having individual audio level controls like you suggested would be really nice.
