2600-Daptor vs Daemonbite?

I use Atari 2600, Atari 800 and Commodore 64 cores frequently. I am very sensitive to input lag. I current own a 2600-daptor so I can use original Atari joysticks: https://www.2600-daptor.com/ I was thinking of getting a Daemonbite Atari adapter (unfortunately sold out) which has very low lag. I was wondering, is this even worth it? Its not expensi...

Re: Recommended Joysticks for Different Cores

Gamepad for the Amiga? Heresy! 😄 If you can find them, the RetroR joysticks have models with 4-8 buttons, and are available in USB versions — which is the best compromise of keeping the classic handheld Amiga joystick while still being able to make use of CD32 4-button controls schemes as well as some additional buttons for start/select/coin etc i...

Recommended Joysticks for Different Cores

Mister is absolutely amazing but I know some of us need to at least have a little bit of feeling like we are playing on the original systems. I am curious how many of you try to at least use joysticks that FEEL like those original cores. Below are my recommendations for some of the cores I play. Atari VCS Classic Joystick Atari 2600 / Atari 7800 / ...

I miss the Commodore drive sounds. I know the Atari 800 core has this.

Is this possible?

Well, my obsession with using the Xbox controller for Intellivision has come full circle.
Introducing Xbox Controller diagrams! It has become so hard to find any adapters that work with Intellivision controllers that I decided to make a diagram. Set up your controller this way and let me know if it works for you.

...or maybe "denial". lol.

With input lag almost identical to a CRT on something way bigger than my old 13" Commodore Monitor, it's pure bliss for me. Just because I don't agree with you doesn’t mean I am in denial.

I think you are confusing input lag with response time.

Whatever the correct term is, it FEELS like I'm playing on a CRT.
Obviously, and it goes without saying, I was talking about input lag.

What should your settings be on before you do the combos to get it wo work? Paddle? Auto? Joystick?
Should it be in Atari mode (with the Atari logo on) or Xbox mode?

EDIT: Paddle obviously but auto works too.

Thanks!

Re: Mister Laggy: Any data regarding vsync_adjust?

VRR enables the low latency boost mode, at least on LG TVs and monitors. It helps a lot with Arcade games which have weird refresh rates, like 55 or 57Hz. Without VRR such games can add 1-3 frames lag, on top of everything. With VRR i measure only 1-2ms extra lag for it, compared to normal computer and consoles refresh rates. Does VRR enabled with...

Re: Mister Laggy: Any data regarding vsync_adjust?

The Mister Laggy core takes every resolution and refresh rate you've set in the Mister.ini video settings. Apart from the built-in core resolutions. The lag difference between all resolutions and refresh rates isn't very high. Mostly around 0,5ms-1m more/less depending on what you've selected. The important thing is (if you have LG devices e.g.) t...

Re: Mister Laggy: Any data regarding vsync_adjust?

Well, given that the testing requires use of the Laggy test core, and I don't think it allows for a lot of variance in refresh rate or resolution, I'm not really sure how that would be possible...it sounds like you want real-world test data from actual cores, which is not at all how Laggy works. So changing the mister.ini settings have no effect o...

I would think that would depend very much on the specific core and individual title refresh rate, no? For sure yes. I am just curious. No one has taken the time to do real data, refresh rat...

Mister Laggy: Any data regarding vsync_adjust?

We all know that vsync_adjust=2 has the lowest lag compared to vsync_adjust=1 and vsync_adjust=0. I am curious if anyone has tested these via their Mister Laggy and has the data. Are vector-based games looking off to anyone?

I noticed all of the vector-based games look weird, especially Asteroids and Deluxe.
The lines don't look smooth and are really jagged, more so than, let's say, MAME, for example.

Is this fixable with settings or is it on a to-do list to fix?

Thanks!

F12 not working on some cores

I have an issue with some cores.

An example is Gauntlet II. F12 to get me to the options no longer works. I don't think I messed anything up.
I removed the Gauntlet II config file, but I still can't access my Mister menu once it loads.

Any thoughts?

just mount the ADF in the menu and reset the Amiga. If you have the correct kickstart rom, chipset setup the disk will autoboot into the game

Okay so just like loading any other ROM? Will give it a try.

Cannot get this to work. It feels like I dont have the core at all.
Downloaded everything and placed it into the right folders.
When I try to load the Amiga core, I click on the folder then it just goes back to the main menu. Its like theres no core included.
Maybe I am missing the kickstart?

Intellivision: Using Xbox right stick for Numpad

Has anyone gotten this to work?

I would like to use the right stick for the numpad in other words:
Upper left =1, up =2, upper right = 3 etc, etc.

This would be especially great for Tron Deadly Disks and Night Stalker and make them like twin stick shooters.

If so, can you post your Intellivision config perhaps?

EasyFlash carts work. They just don't retain any data that gets written to the EasyFlash memory area. Is that really a big issue? I'm writing a game on EasyFlash myself right now and I don't miss this feature at all.

There are several, large games on EasyFlash that need saving like Ultima games, etc.

Both the C64 and the C128 should be able to load the D81 images as long as you provide the appropriate 1581 rom files for the C64 (the C128 has it included with update_all). The only difference of course, at least with the Ultima V, is that on the C128 core, if you boot it up from C128 mode, it will enable the music track. Got it all working but c...
