Re: Amiga and Amiga CD32 Question

Appreciate the reponse. I posted this when I first started messing with Amiga on the mister and AmigaVision. Now that I understand how things work a little better, my question probably didn't/doesn't make sense, as that isn't how things work. I was invisioning a way from launcher (AmigaVision) to pick a CD32 game and have the CD mounted and the cor...

Ahh, gotcha.. Thanks for working through that with me!

Yeah, I'm going to investigate some external scalers and see how that goes.

Thanks again bfbiii!

Re: Adjust Screen Position - Not "Sticking"

It is strange. It seems to work, but if you reboot then it doesn't load the screen positon settings. If you reset the core it keeps the settings, but still thiks you are still adjusting the screen postion, which messes with other inputs.

Adjust Screen Position - Not "Sticking"

Hi, I've been playing around the vga scaler (vga_scaler=1) to force NTSC output to a CRT for NTSC and PAL games. I gotten it to work and while in MINIMIG I can use the Adjust Screen Postion to move the screen around and get it where I want it and I hit Enter and a little pop-up says STORED. After the pop-up goes away the screen potion reverts right...

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

I was able to get 320x240 and 640x240 working:
video_mode=320,8,32,24,240,4,3,16,6048
video_mode=640,-16,56,56,240,2,6,20,11880

They booth look terrible, but the scaling does work. I can run a PAL game and see the whole screen. Very neat. Whish I knew more about this sort of stuff. Been a long time since I messed with timings like this.

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

Thanks bfbiii,

Where do you set Full Screen in the OSD? The only thing I can seem to find is in the mimimig settings - > Audio & Vidio -> Aspect Ratio. Other than that I dont see a full screen option.

Unfortunately, none of my CRTs seem to like those settings. But, it gives me something to play with to see if I can get it to work!

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

OSSC Pro is gonna be the best at what you are after. You go line doubled from MiSTer HDMI out into Pro, make the picture any size and position you like (leave the framerate alone), decimate with actual zero lag back to 15 kHz. You have spent a pretty penny, but you get the feature you want. Is that using the "Extra AV Out" add on that ou...

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

Yep, I get all that. I hooking this to a 36" TV to play some games. Basically, I'm using this like a console - a CD32 with a Terrible Fire Card - more than an amiga computer. If I wanted to play on a smaller desktop monitor I can do that. But, the point is to integrate it with my other consoles in my "game room." Wait a minute. It j...

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

Ah. A Commodore 1950 (or frankly any other multisync) would have you sorted, as would the Magnavox-tubed 1084S (which did allow for NTSC/PAL autoswitching). Forcing 60Hz refresh on a game programmed for PAL will never result in a good experience, even if you can make the screen fit (or at least I find the judder unconscionably bad personally). Yep...

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

Does screen adjustment work with direct video? If so, that's a free way to move the picture up, down, left, right. For PAL games that are actually 256 high, you can split the difference. Plenty of PAL games do not use the full 256. There are lots of external boxes for moving the picture. Extron 201/203 RXI come to mind. But plenty of others from E...

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

If you're in the US, you can get a very fine 24" 1080p display with TATE rotation that will sync to every native refresh rate from Best Buy for around $120. It's a pretty easily-solved problem, and a LOT simpler than buying a complex scaler that will still produce unsatisfactory results. Well that's the thing, I'm connecting to a CRT. If I wa...

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

I'm sure this has been diuscussed to death, but I was wondering if there are any other options are for playing PAL games on an NTSC TV that I've missed? I know you can force NTSC. While that does work, some games seem almost unplayable becuase of where the screen cuts off. Are there any options to move/select the "visible portion" of the ...

Just wanted to follow-up on this incase it might help anyone else.

I was able to get this working, but the regular 40pin ribbon cables did not work. I was successful with 40 pin (80 wire) ribbon cables.

Here is an example of what I wsa able to use successfully:

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

I see that in the AmigaVision DB there are two entries for Gods: One PAL and one NTSC. The only one that appears in the "All Games - By Title" list is the PAL version.

Is there a way to launch the NTSC version or would that require some modifications?

Thanks!

Re: AmigaVision 2024.10.10 Released with Internet Support + MiSTer CD32 Launcher, 182 Game Updates

I saw that. It says something like, if you use this setting the contoller will be seen a a 1 button joystick. Which may be the way to go. What I was getting at is trying to map other button combos to keys. In my example, the Barbarian game (not the Psygnosis one) uses F1 for a 1 player game and F2 for a 2 player game. So, my though process was, if ...

Since it doesn't use the CD32 Kickstart extension ROM, I don't think so...it's not emulation as much as it is a compatibility layer.

Really enjoying AmigaVision so far.

I did a seach and didn't see an answer, but when you run a CD32 game, is there a setting that would enable the the Amiga CD32 Boot Animation?

I don't think they make cables much shiorter than 6 inches. <insert joke here> As for the impedance, that is very possible. I didn't check it as it's just wire. Interferance is a possibility too. I'm not sure if it would help, but I could try wrapping some aluminium foil around the cables and see if that changes anything. Cheers! probably your IDE ...

Hi, I picked up a QMTech mister SOC and I wanted to flatten it out using ribbon cables. I had some 40 pin IDE cables (6 inch), some 40 pin GPIO cables (9 inch I think) so I tried those and it doesn't seem to be working.
