btw, i don't know why QEMM insists on ARAM=D000-DFFF. It's not adapter RAM actually. It's generic RAM which should be available for loadhi. So replacing it by I=D000-DFFF gives additional 64K of high ram for QEMM.

also it's better to add X=F900-FBFF (probaly can be a smaller region) otherwise Floppy may not work.

So study QEMM options and find how to configure it right - this is the only way to solve.
Hi Sorgelig, first of all, thank you for trying to help even if this is not a problem with the core.

I'm not saying there is something wrong with the core, just that it stopped working with my setup (where the previously version had no problems).

Also, by sharing this problem I hope to learn with other users more knowledgeable than me.

Unfortunately, even applying your suggestions QEMM keeps locking up (even the newer versions don't seem to install properly).

To all,

QEMM seems to be working on DOS 7.1 (as stated above). Has anyone been able to get it to work with MS-DOS 6.22 on the latest version of the core?

Trying it with MS-DOS 7.1 may be my next troubleshooting attempt, but I would like to confirm if anyone else has it running on 6.22.

Thanks

What is the point to use DOS 6.22? Better to use DOS 7.1 as it supports FAT32 and it's much better for larger disks.

Because on real 486 when we are Child, we have 6.22 dos Only

Dos 7.1 is rip from windows

You can also say « why qemm because emm386 from dos work well «

A good adress for dos 7 : http://manmrk.net/tutorials/DOS/msdos7/cmdintro.htm

When we were children, the 486 could barely have 500MB HDD.
If you will try to load all games you want, you will find that 500MB is not enough.

more updates:
X=F900-FBFF - this is not required, so remove it.

what you have to do for better compatibility (and keep Floppy working):
Go to qsetup and in DOS-Up options choose "partial" with following settings:
DOS Resources - NO
COMMAND.COM - YES
DOS Data - YES
DOS=HIGH - YES

then re-run optimize

It will just make conventional memory less by 1KB only but will improve the compatibility.

Tried re-installing QEMM 8.0 and 9.0 on MS-DOS 6.22 with a fresh config.sys and autoexec.bat using this recommended configuration.

Unfortunately they both hang up on the OPTIMIZE Software Detection phase of the configuration with the same "Configuration too large for memory". It seems this is happening when the program tries to run DOSDATA.SYS.

I'll try to take some time in the weekend to try it with MS-DOS 7.1 and also try other memory managers other than QEMM. Any recommendations?

EDIT: Also tried with 16MB and 256MB of RAM and different CPU clock speeds. Same result.

Has anybody figured out a real solution to this? I also have no desire to run "DOS 7" (no such thing) and I want to use QEMM so I can use desqview.
