Wizard of Wor Sound distortion [Solved]
Re: Wizard of Wor Sound distortion
I see what you mean! - I'm sure it wasn't like that, so just updating to latest template and sorting it out.
will update the core in github once it is all working properly.

Re: Wizard of Wor Sound distortion
I have updated the core to the latest template and sorted the sound distortion problem, please update and try it now.
voice chip using samples takes a while as I have to get the data address for each word/sample from the lookup tables (which in Gorf are all over the place - maybe in WoW they put them all in one block. Better would be to add the Votrax chip into the mix, but it uses a large number of op-amp based filters and I am yet to look at how you implement these in VHDL (on the list of things to do ...)

Re: Wizard of Wor Sound distortion
Can you please provide the download link to the latest core? I also have sound distortion...
According to this readme, it was updated on 2nd of may: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Arcade-Astrocade_MiSTer
EDIT: sorry, I've just seen that there is a newer core - https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Arcade- ... 200528.rbf
Will check whether mine has this one, since I have sound corruption.

Re: Wizard of Wor Sound distortion
The sound code in Arcade-Astrocade is similar (but not the same) as the original hardware, it is being re-vamped to better match what is known about the hardware. unfortunately there are no precise documents, but a couple of us are trying to get it to sound more like the real thing.
Updated version will be posted soon (and on the last test version the GET READY tune on WoW sounded awesome, but the explosion on Space Zap was a bit naff) - hopefully there is a compromise somewhere in there that works for them all!

Re: Wizard of Wor Sound distortion
This has now been updated, there are a few changes in memory usage and the framework has been updated
The big difference is that the sound hardware has been revamped by REGGS and now closely matches what can be derived from the documentation available (which includes user manuals / patents and articles in magazines) - end result is it sounds much better!
