OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
So... I have an a600 3.1 ROM as Amiga/kick.rom. I have now new RAM that tests 100% good at 140Mhz. I have even installed a heat sink and a fan.
When I boot the amiga first, I get this screen: Then if I goto the on-screen menu and choose reset, I get a black screen and the key for the on-screen menu no longer works.
Help?

Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
Try another Kickstart Rom. Try a 1.3 Rom for a A500, name it kick.rom and put it into the folder "Amiga" on your SD card.
Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
I've tried a few different roms. There isn't one labelled for a500. Only a590 etc.

Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
There was no A590. Just google kickstart a500.
Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
A590 is a hard disk controller for A500 - http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/a590
The problem here is that zBeeble is trying to use "encrypted" kickstarts from old Amiga Forever without a keyfile.

Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
Yeah, I already sent him a PN about that issue...
Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
OK. So that boots. Not entirely fun to be in 1.3, but I got some fond memories of AmigaBasic.
So... I was encouraged to buy Amiga Forever to get the ROMs. Some point out that you can run the machine, save the rom to a disk and then read that disk. Some suggest that this doesn't work for the 3.x ROMs. I'm pretty fed up with Amiga Forever at this point.
What is my path to ROMs that work?

Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
Google's not been good to me so far, but really... the advice here is forget Amiga Forever and just find ROMs online somehwere?
Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
@zBeeble: Yes, forget the scam that Amiga Forever is, and get your own roms online. There are complete KICKSTART collections easily downloadable.
Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
I've googled around a bit. Haven't been satisfied yet. Any pointers? If such things get deleted here, you can PM me?
Re: OK. Lines gone, RAM tests good, Amiga still not booting.
Not sure if this is useful, but I used winuae in conjunction with my recently purchased amigaforever roms and installation floppy disk images to create a working a1200 3.1 hd file for minimig.
From memory, it wasn't so hard to set up winuae to work with amiga forever files. I might be misrembering, but I seem to remember that winuae auto-detected some of the forever files.
I found it easier to tinker with the install in winuae and then copy the hd file and roms over to MiSTer, but that might just be me.

Heh, you just posted on the other thread that you don't use Amiga Forever ROMs (even though you obviously are)
viewtopic.php?p=8997#p8997
AmigaForever have for a very long time now, been shipping kickstart ROMs that are not "encoded", so if it is true that you bought AmigaForever recently, then you should not have any trouble... but this not the case, your collection of kickstarts is probably way old, so... why don't you copy the rom.key file that you got when you bought AmigaForever? The Mister firmware supports it, and everything will just work. What is my path to ROMs that work?

I have both Amiga Forever and Amiga OS 3.2 discs. I don't get into all the politics (maybe I should) I just like to support the community.
