Custom Arcade Lists
Custom Arcade Lists
I’d like to create 2 sub folders for the arcade games in MiSTer; 1 for vertical games and 1 for horizontal games. I don’t mind doing this manually, I’m just not sure how to do it. If someone can point me in the right direction I’d really appreciate it!

Re: Custom arcade lists
Just make two directories and move the mra files into each. Make sure to put the right roms in the right folder or just put two copies in since they aren’t big.
I am not sure if we added the orientation to the mra files yet. I think we didn’t merge that change in. Otherwise you could write a script to separate them

Re: Custom arcade lists
Actually if you want sub folders then the roms stay in the same place.alanswx wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2020 12:17 am Just make two directories and move the mra files into each. Make sure to put the right roms in the right folder or just put two copies in since they aren’t big.

Make sure the directory starts with an underscore.
Re: Custom arcade lists
Thanks alanswx. Sorry didn’t see your first reply til now. How do you create a link to an MRA? I prefer to go that route vs copying so I don’t have duplicate MRAs all over my SD card. Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!
Re: Custom Arcade Lists
Thanks for all your help. I created symbolic links and I have my own vertical and horizontal folders populated and working now
One last question; since my folders simply contain links to the actual MRAs, if/when one of the games gets updated there won't be any need to change anything in my folders, correct? They'll just pick up whatever updates are there in the original MRAs that I've linked to, if I understand correctly.

Re: Custom Arcade Lists
In this regard i always wanted to ask if there's a known file with the correct romset(s), i am thinking of filesize and a md5 or sha of these files so people know if their rom(s) will work or not?
Or did i miss something and there's already a file / program that can check if your files are valid?

Re: Custom Arcade Lists
In scripts, there is a "mra_rom_check" script.
It is at this very moment being improved by Alan and myself, as most of its output was speaking about bad MRA files (which I have been fixing all weekend).
It will give you decent output today, but it will give you better output soon (as soon as the latest round of pull requests are accepted by the repository maintainers).
Note: The MRAs from elsewhere (for example, Jotego's cores which are not in the MiSTer-devel repositories) still need significant work from somebody in order to clean them up.

I guess it's now no need to manually sort, thanks to new Arcade Organizer lists !! ("Included" in update all script)
