You should be able to play any cores with that. I highly suggest a cooling fan though.

Yes you would do just fine with that, but like others said, I'd recommend the cooling fan and top plate too. It'll be a lot cheaper than a I/O board.

If you don't need the i/o board, like myself, just grab a 3d printed top plate to house a fan and some heat sinks. I have seen issues with the 128mb sdram, so be aware(FF 3 on SNES I'm looking at you!!!), you only need it for a handful of neo geo games that you may never play.

I don't need the I/O board, so I went with a top plate with fan over the heat sink. That ran fine and still runs fine even in a now official case, you can get a top plate with no buttons.

Don't forget the OTG hub if you're not running the USB hub board yet.

I rocked this one until I got my USB board, does what it says on the tin, it's small and inexpensive on Amazon. Win all around.

This worked really well for me until I got an actual USB board.

The one issue I had was that it had didn't work properly with my optical mouse (an old Wheel Mouse Optical), which I chalked up to power issues, as I also had a keyboard and USB controller adaptor plugged into it. I got around that by pulling out a powered USB hub and hooking it up to one of the regular USB ports on the MakerSpot board, and plugging my mouse into that.

Basically I would go for:

• De10-nano, a cheap rpi fan and otg hub, an empty digital io board to mount the fan, and a heatsink.

• (optional) BT and Wifi modules for convenience.

• And I would save for the 128MB sram expansion rather than going for the cheaper one.

In total it was around £150 to start and around £200 with the memory module.
