Shining Force II Crash
Shining Force II Crash
I’m having a problem where SFII crashes at the same point every time. I’ve tried several ROM dumps (including verified good dumps and a prototype), I replayed to that point on a new .sav, and waiting/screwing with in game values in case of checksum badness, but it still crashes. Here’s a quick clip: https://youtu.be/zsvccju6S10. Any ideas?
Re: Shining Force II Crash
Dang. That's certainly a dramatic way for a game to crash!
You should definitely report this on github so it can get looked at: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Genesis_MiSTer/issues
If you can upload your .sav somewhere, that might also help with debugging. So would mentioning the specific filename and/or hash for some of the roms you tried. Here's an online tool to get the hashes: https://www.romhacking.net/hash/

Thanks for the tip, but I eventually got it! It was CPU Turbo. I’d completely forgotten to even try turning it off, but it doesn’t run with it on. Should have checked earlier!

Turbo is no joke! It looked like it displayed the entire rest of the game in a few seconds!
Glad you found it (for selfish reasons as well...I know to keep that off for the game now!)

I had the same bug with Turbo on a loooong time ago hehe. I already reported it on the github and it's a closed issue of course. When in doubt turn off the hacks like that, good call!
