Hi all, this is completely pointless but I decided to alter the kernal for my C64 core to make it more MiSTer like.
No changes to the functionality of the rom itself, just text changes.
Thought I'd share it here in case anyone else wanted to use it.
To use the rom, extract from the .zip file and place it in your C64 games folder and make sure it's called boot.rom

Re: MiSTerized C64 Kernal
looks pretty neat and nice way show that it's the MiSTer core. I only use JiffyDOS because it's much faster and I don't really use tapes. Great work, if you do make JiffyDOS version I would use it for sure

Re: MiSTerized C64 Kernal
I've just been messing with the Jiffydos rom however I've decided that it's better not to give it the same treatment.
I'll explain why.....
The old C64 ROM is probably still owned by someone but due to its age and the prevalence of copies all over the internet, I doubt there'll be much come-back.
The JiffyDos rom is a more modern product and is still sold officially by its designer.
For me to edit the rom and then upload on here would be a blatant act of piracy for which I don't want to bring either the MiSTer Project or myself into the spotlight.
An alternative for use with MiSTer is to use the Action Replay 6 cart (renamed as boot3.rom) that boots with the core, that's what I use.
If there is enough interest, I'm happy to do a write up on how I edited the rom file and from there, people can edit their own files but it's not difficult to do.
TL;DR - Unless the owner of JiffyDOS were to provide express permission (I doubt they would) I'm not comfortable with spreading a modified version of current intellectual property on this forum.
Feel free to reach out to me on Discord if you have any further questions

Re: MiSTerized C64 Kernal
Cloanto (apparently) owns the rights and sells the C64 ROM, it's part of C64Forever (https://www.c64forever.com/). The guys making the Mega65 made a deal with them to be able to use the ROM.
