Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
I very much doubt it with the DE-10 SH3 games are what-- 7-8 lol 10-15 years old?
But hey, the 68K core is as of today 99% complete, and I can personally attest to that!
Onto Toaplan!

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
...so, I was checking SH3 board specs, and this is what system16.com has to say about them
CV1000B:
CV1000D:
Given recent findings regarding SDRAM limitations, I very much doubt these would be possible to tackle. However the other day, Jotego was gauging interest in the PGM system, which is 68000 based, and this could very well mean that the likes of DOJ, Ketsui and EspGaluda are within our grasp
ᕙ( ͡◉ ͜ ʖ ͡◉)ᕗ
CV1000B:
Code: Select all
CPU : Hitachi SH-3 CPU, 133 Mhz Clock
Sound Chip : Yamaha YMZ770C-F
Other Chips (Based on Ibara) : Altera Cyclone EP1C12F324C8 FPGA (i think used as Video-DSP and SD-RAM Controller),
K9F1G08U0A 128M x 8 Bit NAND Flash Memory,
1x MX29LV160BBTC-90 Flash Memory and 2x MX29LV320ABTC-90 Flash ICs (space for up to 2 more Flash ICs is not used),
1xMT48LC2M32B2-6 SDRAM and 2x MT46V16M16.
LA4708 Audio amplifier.
Code: Select all
The CV1000-D is a direct upgrade of the Cave CV1000B board, the main differences seem to be:
Chip U1 : IS42S32400D 128Mb SDRAM @ 166mhz (standard SH3 has MT48LC2M32 64Mb SDRAM)
Chip U4 : 32Mbit Spansion S29JL032H (standard SH3 has a 16Mbit Spansion S29AL016D.
No Lithium Battery

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
Yep, nullobject already has confirmed that's the plan: Dangun Feveron 1st, DonPachi next.
Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
Mine doesn't work.
I've 32MB MiSTer. I've just installed with update script. I can see four different DoDonPachi versions, but all of them show a screen full of different colors and then... nothing. Core menu button doesn't work and I need to reset.
Only one time I've ran japanese version, but since that time, the game doesn't work anymore.
¿Any ideas?
Thank you

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
Congrats on releasing the core!
What other games run on similar hardware? I see on system16 that Power Instinct is also listed on the same page, but it seems to be a board variant?

For anybody with SDRAM problems: the public version can be switched to work with DDR RAM.

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
Copying from the release notes:
Code: Select all
Added menu option to switch between SDRAM and DDR3 memory.
SDRAM will give you the most consistent performance, so this is for anyone having SDRAM problems
(crashes, glitches, sound issues, etc.)
It also defaults to DDR3 if you don't even have a SDRAM module installed in your MiSTer.
This way everyone still gets to play!

My 32MB is a Winbond. Initially I had problems with some Jotego arcades but when he updated his memory controller they all started to work.
Which 32MB are you using?

As it crashes MISTer I cannot go into the OSD to switch. I suppose I could edit the config file related to the core. Does anyone has any idea?Chris23235 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:33 pm For anybody with SDRAM problems: the public version can be switched to work with DDR RAM.
It looks like config files are not text files. Could someone post a config file with the core switched to DDR?
Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
if you rename the rom or remove it from the mame folder so the rom is not loaded you will be able to get the menu to load so you can make your changes it will complain about not been able to find the rom but thats fine for just doing the settingsjca wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:45 pmAs it crashes MISTer I cannot go into the OSD to switch. Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
I've just tried advanced options SDRAM and DDR3. Also 57.5 and 60Hz. Same result: blank screen and no menuKnC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 9:08 pmif you rename the rom or remove it from the mame folder so the rom is not loaded you will be able to get the menu to load so you can make your changes it will complain about not been able to find the rom but thats fine for just doing the settingsjca wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:45 pmAs it crashes MISTer I cannot go into the OSD to switch. Not sure if these are the correct config files. I didn't found files for the core only for the game.I saved 60 Hz and DDR.

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
Thanks to KnC and Chris23235. I used the method by renaming the zip, making the changes in the OSD and renaming back the zip.
As it did not work I looked for a different rom (I had no reason to doubt about the rom I got using Update All, Mame Getter). I downloaded the first one I found (it had a different size).
It worked . Only one time .
Something funky is going on.

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
Currently I am experimenting with a USB HDD and MISTer "Switched to USB". Only once did I manage to start the ROM.
I went back to my previous setting which is with a USB HDD containing only the games directory. mame and hbmame are sub-directories of games, the arcade cores and rbfs are on the SD card. This also did not work.
Last I used a setup with only a SD card. This time it works almost 100% of the time. Once in a while loading one of the mras crashes MISTer.

Thanks so much to nullobject for this core. I have never before been able to 1CC this game......and I still can not This was the game that introduced me to bullet hell shooters back in the day and it brings back some great memories.
jca, do you happen to be using the USB version of the update_all script?

Re: CAVE 68000 Any News for MiSTer
Hi all,
Any chance anyone know why I can’t get sound on the new Dodonpachi core? I have a Tripp lite hdmi vga adapter which gives sound for everything else. Im getting only a hum coming through. I’ve got it connected up to my scart tvs through a gscart board and there’s no sound to both tvs.
I’ve had a look at the sound menu in the dodonpachi core as well as played around with advanced settings, and also the sound filter (which I have no clue what this is for) without success. Not sure if it’s a config.ini setting but as mentioned, every other core works fine.
Not sure what to try next but hopeful someone might have an idea.
Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem and it's already reported: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Arcade- ... /issues/32
An external DAC did the trick for me.

When using the configuration with "Switch to USB" I use the USB version of Update All.SuperBabyHix wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 3:15 am ...

When using the USB HDD with just the games directory I use the regular Update All and I created ini files for MAME GETTER and HBMAME GETTER to point to /media/usb0/games/mame and hbmame.
When using Switch to USB I managed to start the core only once after many many tries.
When using the USB HDD with only the games directory I did not manage to start the core once but I did not try too many times.
When using only the SD card it mostly works, not almost 100% as I said previously but more like 75% of the time.
The core is set to SDRAM.
Regarding the sound: I have sound both on HDMI and on analog out.
