The Guardian Legend SRAM patched

Hello,
I wanted to play The Guardian Legend and so I was browsing romhacking.net to see if some improvement hacks esisted... and I found this one

The problem is that, after patching, the graphics are all messed up (from what I see patching changes the game mapper to MMC3, but it should be implemented, right?). It is not a big deal (I can play with passwords anyway) but I was curious to know if I did something wrong or if there is a problem with the nes core and this particular hack.

This MMC3 hack doesn't set the CHR bank registers so it only works on some emulators. It needs to be patched.
