Save Backup RAM feedback

Unread post by bfbiii »

While playing Snatcher I have been saving in the MiSTer OSD after each in-game save. As a new user of this method I noticed there is no feedback for the user indicating that the save is registered. The menu just closes as it would if you hit the OSD menu button a second time. Would it be possible to indicate that a save has been registered? Otherwise we are left guessing--restarting and hoping it worked.

Many thanks.

The green user LED lights up when there's a save to be written and goes out once the file has been saved.

Copy that. I was hoping something in the OSD would make that clear.

isn't it appearing "saving...." on screen when you hit osd menu button?

when it disappears it is because it is saved.

That's my note. Nothing appears on the OSD (for me at least). The OSD just closes. It saves. Yes, the light on MiSTer turns off, but it seems if possible the OSD should give the user feedback that it saved. If people feel differently or everyone else sees "saving..." or "saved" or something, all good.

I noticed this myself in testing. I did the "Save RAM" manually, but it didn't show anything until I reopened the OSD, where it then displayed "Saving...", as I have it set to Autosave.
