Mounting separate micro SD in my misteraddons MiSTer [Solved]

Unread post by brandon.arnold »

I wonder if my question is specific to the MiSTer from misteraddons.com, so please bear with me. Anywho I got my board from that vendor, and I'm confused about something. I just started up my MiSTer with a micro SD I formatted with the latest firmware from the Main_MiSTer Wiki on Github. I did not realize that the MiSTer already had a ~8GB flash memory on it, with a pretty good selection of cores and scripts already available.

This is nice, but now I have a couple of questions:

1. The available flash is quite low compared to the rom packs on my separate micro SD card. Putting it in the micro SD slot however doesn't seem to auto-mount it. How can I mount my separate filesystem?

2. Despite having some fine scripts, the flash that's built-in doesn't seem to save my settings upon turning the system off (such as WiFi). Is it possible to ssh in, or open a terminal, so I can edit some of those config files on the built-in flash?

Thanks!

I assume you are putting your bigger sd card in the 'second' sd slot on the i/o board? That slot isn't available to the system for mounting extra filesystems, it is directly connected to the FPGA and only available for individual cores to use.

You should replace the 8GB card with your larger one. If you want to mount them both you need to do it via USB.

You nailed it. It's definitely in an unexpected place on the underside of the main board! Thank you, zakk4223.

I just updated step 4 of the setup guide on the Main MiSTer Wiki with a callout to this.
