It wasn't a question, I was actually trying to demystify all of it a little bit, since sometimes devs have started development on a core on different hardware and ported it over.

Sometimes people get overly skeptical just because they see it's being developed on a different board or something.

Some developers are just more comfortable with other hardware. I've started reading books and there seems to be some key differences in the way the Xilinx and Cyclone boards handle things internally.

I guarantee it won't be.

Still good progress, but we haven't even seen the first commercial games running yet.

According to the Pareto Principle 20% of work takes 80% of the time. So it's best to be patient. :)

Imagine being the developer on July 2nd and getting a bunch of messages asking where the core is...

I wouldn't be surprised if a beta was released by the holiday season. I think that's a resonable expectation given how fast srg320's been working on this project.

Just curious... Does anyone know how hard it would be to make a Sega Model 3 core after this is complete? Can some of the Saturn development code be reused?

Do you mean the ST-V? Model 3 has a completely different CPU

Thanks. I meant the Model 3. I am hoping someday to have a Sega Model 3 core (Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, Daytona USA 2, etc.). I was wondering if any of the components in the Saturn are also in the Model 3.

Looks like the sound chip is. Other than that it is completely unrelated to a Saturn.

The model 3 has a PowerPC cpu and a proper 3d GPU (Real3D Pro-1000) (multiple of them I believe). It also got substantial upgrades in later revisions.

Thanks! I am guessing that means the logic will never fit on the MiSTer. There is a Model 3 emulator for the PC, but it is currently buggy. At least it is still being developed. I am looking forward to the Saturn core for sure at least!

What is buggy about Supermodel ?
Sure, there are a few graphical issues, but it's a fantastic emulator, and looks good using Reshade.

When I was playing Star Wars Arcade Trilogy, there were some major issues. I don't recall off the top of my head the exact details but I think there were graphical issues and control issues. I think the bigger problems started after the first section of the game.

No such problems here.
Make sure you use the build version that is linked in the forums, not the one from the link on the main page, that is ancient.

Just to edit: Latest version is called "Supermodel-r862 Release + Sega Model 3 UI" :- dated 2021-05-10
