Direct snapshots for spectrum core

Unread post by mambrino »

Hi,

It would be interesting to add an option to save snapshots directly from the core, in z80 or sna format. I know that the core implements the emulation of Disciple and Multiface and that they allow dumping snapshots to disk, but when used to save game states, managing these in a comfortable way is complicated, in addition, some games has crash or screen corruption issues when loaded again. I don't know how difficult would it be to do this, but I understand that it must be possible since other cores already implement it.

My core development knowledge is not enough, but if someone is interested in programming this functionality, count on me for testing.

Direct snapshots would be the best solution, but this method using esxdos is not too bad: viewtopic.php?p=24173#p24173

CRT SCR$ Project - building a collection of high-quality photos of CRT displays
CRT ART Books - retro-gaming books with authentic CRT photos
