Anyone fancy implementing Jotego's CRT H/V adjustment on the NeoGeo Core?

Unread post by advert2021 »

The Neo Geo core is notably shifted to the left and does not vertically align in the same way as any other console cores. Unlike with Jotego’s cores, the Neo Geo core has no way to compensate for this. On my PVM this means taking back of the monitor off and changing the pots with a screwdriver! This may be ‘original’, but there is absolutely no reason not to offer users the option to shift the picture on Mister.

Would anyone on here be able to implement Jotego’s H/V offset code on the NeoGeo core? https://github.com/jotego/jtframe/blob/ ... e_resync.v

It would be very appreciated!

I’m pretty sure you could create a Patreon and monetise it, especially if you gradually offered it for all cores. It is such an essential feature and would be hugely popular with those of up with CRTs! (See the response to Jotego's tweet about it: https://twitter.com/topapate/status/1391115446515126273).

Is this something that could be added into the framework, so that developers would just need to update to the latest version to get this feature?

And while at it, please add a 60hz core speed switch :)

This is another option (however, this can be difficult for a lot of people when it comes to CRTs in 2021) and if we applied that logic evenly for all vintage electrical products we wouldn’t have a need for MiSTer.

Can't wait for LCD TV to have a nice sticker saying "MiSTer compatible" on the box

I don't understand this comment. It's missing context.

I really enjoy this option on the arcade cores that have it. Even though my CRT (Commodore 1084) has all the knobs to adjust the display (mostly at the back though), it is great to not have to use them.

Oh yeah, I'll go looking for CRT trees where professional grade CRT are born in 2021.

He was referring to a modern HDMI Oled or LCD.

Blackwine implemented this for NeoGeo, I wonder if he could do the same for SNES etc.
