Re: AmigaOS 3.2
Great, thank you for your feedback @Estrayk, I've ordered mine yesterday, cannot wait to try it on the Mister now that I know that it works like a charm.

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
I got AmigaOS 3.2 to run on the MiSTer as well and... it seems interesting. I plan to play around with it some more. I want to try its different features, like how it can mount several ADFs and all those image types (graphical images) its supposed to support, like ADFs. And the new text editor they added. But I also found that the file system it uses does not work with 3.0 or 3.1, so that is a problem for my real Amiga, as I usually make it part of the HDs boot to load a ROM into memory. But that is not really possible if a 3.0 ROM cannot read it. But... I guess that is possible to get around by preparing the HD using a WB 3.0 installation first, then installing AmigaOS 3.2 on it after.

When you bought 3.2 you did not get a new Kickstart EPROM?Caldor wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 8:23 am I got AmigaOS 3.2 to run on the MiSTer as well and... it seems interesting. Re: AmigaOS 3.2
Yes, just not a physical one. I hope to be able to on my real Amiga to load that into memory. On the MiSTer it works great with the new kickrom, but my real Amiga so far has the 3.0 ROM built in, and I am trying to load 3.2 into fast RAM on boot. I have different operating systems I use for it, some using different accelerators. MAPRom is pretty reliable, but my Apollo accelerator uses REMApollo, which is not as reliable. I hope to get that working.bbond007 wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 1:22 pmWhen you bought 3.2 you did not get a new Kickstart EPROM?Caldor wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 8:23 am I got AmigaOS 3.2 to run on the MiSTer as well and... it seems interesting. I am trying to put together a ReAmiga 1200 motherboard, that one should probably get a new Kickrom. But I try to use these to load a lot of different games and such and many old games were based on Workbench, and now they would generally need to first get that icon.library loaded. Was the same with 3.1.4.
Sure is easier with software emulation and FPGAs where you can just pick a kickROM to use. But MAPRom does work almost as well.

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
I recommend using PFS for everything, and it should work on every 3.x release, including 3.2. It’s a much more robust file system.

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
Yeah, it is quite good. I just formatted with whatever the AmigaOS 3.2 Install disk uses by default, then found that the same system is not supported by regular Kickroms. I guess this means PFS is supported by 3.0. I keep being surprised how much these new ones lack backwards compatibility. But I guess you cannot expect too much from devs developing this without any pay. I suspect its not even a new filesystem, would be strange to make a new one. But since it does not seem to be PFS3, I am wondering what format it is, its like they have gone out of their way to pick a less compatible one.
Re: AmigaOS 3.2
For my real A1200 (with Aca1233n and 128MB Fast ram), i've ordered a KS 3.2 rom to replace my 3.x (Cloanto) that i am using now (and that will mount on another real A1200), meanwhile i am testing AmigaOS 3.2 on Mister and i love it but a stock A1200 with only 2 mb of chipram is not able to use correctly new 3.2 version.. very too few free chip ram after boot

I'm just hoping for a digital download at some point soon. I don't really need physical media for a virtual Amiga.

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
New filesystem should work just fine with kickstart 3.0, but you _HAVE_ you install v47 fastfilesystem to RDB on the hard drive, using HDToolBox. This is nothing new, and it is exactly the same way with PFS as well.

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
To the RDB? How is it that works? The Amiga files systems have always confused me a bit, especially with the different tools needed to format the different file systems, all the different versions each of them have and so on. I usually follow some guide when setting it up on my real Amiga. But I do not think I really ever got 4gb partitions working and such.kolla wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:58 pm New filesystem should work just fine with kickstart 3.0, but you _HAVE_ you install v47 fastfilesystem to RDB on the hard drive, using HDToolBox. The basic idea is that on boot, the kickstart will check for filesystems installed on the boot blocks of attached disks, and will use the newest it can find, overriding the one built into kickstart.

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
Ahh, like master boot record on a PC. I am guessing this is why my AmigaOS 3.2 formatted VHD wont boot without Kickrom 3.2... hmm... or is it that Kickrom 3.0 and 3.1 just does not support the version and the 3.2 format utility did set the RDB correctly when installing AmigaOS 3.2?kolla wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 8:56 amhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga_rigid_disk_blockCaldor wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 7:44 amTo the RDB? I've bought a CD version meanwhile i was waiting for shipping, they've added digital download, so i am already using it on my FPGA devices, when will arrive KICK3.2 ROM, i will put it into my real A1200 and will update actual 3.1 present on CFallyourbasekris wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 6:29 pm I'm just hoping for a digital download at some point soon. CD is only for have all files that you need (rom files, ADF Workbench 3.2 files and a ready to use system if you copy all on a Amiga hard disk (or CF, SD, VHD)

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
I got a copy from amigastore.eu. The CD can literally be copied to an .HDF file and then transferred to the MiSTer. It'll boot into the install environment and you can install it to a blank .HDF (or you can use the floppy install and die from old age). It's nifty.
Re: AmigaOS 3.2
I tried multiple times to do a bare metal install, using the ADF, the ISO or a constructed HDF, and every time I get a program error 80000004 or 8000000B right after the GlowIcons prompt. I'm still scratching my head on it. Tried multiple variants, installing using the 3.2 kickstart for A1200, or my previous 3.1.4 kickstart from Hyperion.
The only way I was able to succeed was to install on top of an existing AmigaOS 3.1.4.

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
After watching a few youtube videos and comparing what I might have done wrong, I think I've learned that I shouldn't mount and format the HDF file within WinUAE, but let HDToolBox to the job. I've now been successful a few times repeatedly! #LessonsLearned

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
There are some recommendations on the notes on the Git for Minimig on how to create a HDF image.
Can Minimig also use VHD?
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Minimig-AGA_MiSTer
There is also some instructions on how to install mouse wheel support, Akiko C2P support, RTG, the shared folder and such.
I have gotten it all to work on a clean AmigaOS 3.2 install done on the MiSTer. Its running in 800x600 quite nicely. For some reason it wont boot fully if I add the mouse wheel driver and Akiko to the boot settings though. Not sure why that is, I am guessing it will work if I add these to the startup files differently.
For now I run them manually after the UI has loaded.

Re: AmigaOS 3.2
I'm planning an updated video to this where I create the blank .HDF on the mister using DD and then install to it via the 3.2.iso image. No need for WINUAE at all in the process.
It works in testing it's just getting the time to film the process.
