Maybe star ocean has a glitch

Unread post by Lisko »

Hi, i. I'm very sorry for this topic but I don't have a physical snes for comparison. I started playing star ocean translated version but this also applies to original jap version and I noticed that at the beginning village there's a "raining" effect only on buildings' shadows. Is it normal?

You mean the moving tree shadow here at 7:23?

It's not about the moving shadow, if you look carefully you can see a "rain effect" in it. Being even in this video I think that it's an artistic choice however it's emulation.

It's apart of the game. They were trying to simulate light poking though the leaves but with perfectly sharp pixels it does look like rain.
I can confirm this happens on real hardware, I tried the unmodified game on a 1-Chip SNES.
It is my great regret that we live in an age that is proud of machines that think and suspicious of people who try to.
