C64 SID music defect on Tim Follin music

Unread post by vanfanel »

Hi there,

Since the SID is being actively worked on these days, I guess it's a good time to report that Ghouls'N Ghosts tittle music has a defect: after the tittle music ends (which is a Tim Follin masterpiece), there's a cracking sound that is not present on real hardware.

The game in question, whose tittle screen has the defect, is this one:

Can you guys reproduce it? Just let the music play to the end: it ends with breathing sounds.
After the breathing sounds, there's a LOUD crackling noise, at least here, with the latest C64 core version.

Sounds like you need an external DAC on your mister, tried music with mine and no defect.

DAC can make the mister shine!!

I am using the default SID configuration.
I have also tried different audio setups (I always use HDMI audio) and I can definitively hear that cracking sound after the song ends.
Have you left the song playing AFTER the final noises? The song ends with breathing and heartbeat noises. The cracking sounds come AFTER those effects.
