Thanks for all the work on the C64

Unread post by FPGA64 »

Thank you for all the work on the C64 Core.

I tested the G64 support and it works on protected disks such as Wizball. So its a great start. The C64 holds a special place in my heart and to see the work being poured into it is very gratifying.

Thanks Sorg

Aren't there 2 SIDs already present in the C64 core?

G64 support is a great new feature. I wanted to play the original NTSC version of Master of the Lamps as I found most cracked versions imperfect in some ways, and they are usually based on PAL cassette releases. I converted a .nib image to .g64 and, lo and behold, it works perfectly on MiSTer!
Many thanks for recent updates.

Are there schematics/plans for that disk/tape adapter you are using?

My pcbs are closed but It's based on the table "USER_IO pins" on this readme:

https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/C64_MiSTer/

I only have added two edges (user and tape edge) for power the SD2IEC

I just ordered one (and am MT-32 adapter) from your site, but then I realized... What does that cable plug into on the MiSTer? It looks like I need another adapter to get to the DB9?

Just cancelled the order. Please read the description:

"Note: Only for DB9 MiSTer (SLIM, DRIVE and MINI). For official MiSTer please wait to other sellers.

This device interconnects the MiSTer FPGA to a real Commodore 1541 disk drive. Also compatible with drive emulators like SD2IEC. To provide power to SD2IEC there are two edge connectors: user port and tape port.

Can be connected directly to the DB9 port, but optionally I sell with a DB9 extender cable."

This is now a great core! Thanks for all the hard work in making this fantastic.
I'm wondering if any of the work on the C64 core easily transfers to some of the other Commodore cores?

Scaling algo PAL/NTSC to Vic20 core. C64 scaling on Full-HD HDMI is fine now (again), Vic20 scaling in PAL mode is still off (like C64 before the much welcomed improvements).

VIC20 has variable position of screen, so it's much harder to accomplish without accidentally cut the useful video.

Well yes, but you already did a great job with NTSC on the Vic. Just PAL mode is missing the final touch :-).
