Zipped MegaCD images?

The MegaCD core's README doesn't recommend running from zipped disc images. However it seems to run ok for me so far? Does anyone else do this, or have you had any problems that made you not do it anymore?

This is what I found on the Github.

ZIP is supported but doesn't work due to long positioning time. So DON'T zip the images!

So it looks like to me like having Mega CD isos zipped probability effect the read time of the CD image.

But is CHD supported? Squashfs is already usable with the custom build linked above.

CHD requires supporting FLAC for audio, and I have no idea how CD access works within an FPGA, doubtful it could handle decoding any kind of compressed audio. I'd say it's unlikely.

AFAIK cd images never worked when zipped.

Yup! Back when the user made this post I don't think CHD support was added by zakk yet.

Really?, oh man, i added mi MegaCD collection a month ago and i uncompressed all my CHD's before ftping them to my Mister

Seriuosly, if something is lacking about all this Mister stuff is documentation for some of the software or advanced functionalities on the cores/menu

Partly it's because this is a hobby DIY project. Personally the MiSTer project has helped me learn and grow in my abilities to find my own answers to this stuff, learn how to use git and github in general, learn how to read and understand some code. Look at it as a learning opportunity. It's more than just a game system to me. If you notice stuff like this, update the wiki or the cores' readme for it. Get involved.
