Galaga Core Wont Start

anyone else having issues with this core after the last round of updates ?

Mine freezes at an upside down screen that looks like a broken DIP settings page

I noticed this a few weeks ago. Have you run the update script? You'll get the latest version. The old one on the list is obsolete

thanks. I'll try again, but, yes I did the update all option.
then when it was broken I tried deleting the MRA and ROMs (via the update all script options) and still not good ...
It's all good, I'll flash a new uSD

This means that you have the old MrX .mras still present. Try launching Galaga (Midway, Set 1) from directly under _Arcade.

For some strange reason, symlinks are not created if you manually copy the alternative .mras from the github release folder on your SD card. Let's wait for the bot to pick 'em up (I've notified @theypsilon about the issue several days ago)

I'm not seeing these 2600, 2700, and 2800 bin files in any Galaga mame zip...

Mister searches mame zip files by CRC first, not file name. I think it still falls back to filename if the CRC doesn't exist.
Regardless, those files exist in the roms, just not with those file names. For example 2600j.bin is actually gg1_9.4l

reporting back - i blew away all the MRA & ROM files (via the update script) and set each option to no last sync
so in theory all fresh ...
same issue, so i assume its the MRA looking for the wrong ROM files, or the MRA is correct and the wrong ROM files are being downloaded.

any guesses to which it is ?

I cant work out why the updater is broken, it pulls the same file, but it's named differently ..

confirming the latest downloader script is working well and grabs the correct versions
and also the high scores autosave is working on all versions
